7v7 at U18
My current coaching environment in Thailand is very small-sided driven, 7v7 being more popular than 11v11 (both watching and playing). As a result, everything I coach is 7v7 - 24 minute games, 2 x 12 minute halves, squads of 12 If you was in this situation (the game being very intense, very physically demanding due to heat and humidity) how would you manage a U18 side? Consider training and games 1 suggestion I've had in the past from the ex-Academy Manager at Chelsea was to switch players every 3 mins so that they could go at 100%. Tried it a few times - some games beneficial, others not and similarly some players liked it, others prefer growing into a game

I'm in that heat as well for 180 days per year, it is a nightmare sometimes. But 3 minutes is a very short space of time, Dave, players might only get a few touches and have limited impact. I'm going to assume that games are roll off and roll on subs? If so, can you roll 5 on every 6 mins? Or would that be too disruptive? For training, I would probably be doing a workable rest/recovery rate. The exercises themself would be determined by where the players are at in their development
Resource for Grassroots Coaches of U7-12 players & teams
Foundation Age Coaching has been supporting grassroots coaches since 2017. For many coaches, their journey begins with a foundation phase team. It’s an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming. I started Foundation Age Coaching to help make that journey easier by providing practical tools, resources and guidance that help coaches become more organised, more reflective and more effective. Resources include: - Session Reflection Tool – Reflect on your sessions with structured questions that help identify what went well, what could be improved and where to focus next (free to use with a taster membership) - Match Reflection Tool – Analyse your match day coaching to continually develop your decision-making and coaching practice. - Session Pathway Planner – Receive recommendations for what to coach next based on your players’ current needs and biggest challenges. - Season Planner – Build a progressive season that links your coaching sessions together, rather than treating each one in isolation. - Post-Match Player Evaluations – Send age-appropriate evaluations to your players after games, encouraging them to reflect on their own performance and development. - Session Builder – Create, organise and save your training sessions using a growing library of practices. - Team Management Tool – Manage your season with an integrated calendar, Sub-Timer, stat tracker, match reports and player evaluations that can be shared with players and parents. - Downloadable coaching guides and session plans – Practical resources covering key topics to support your coaching on and off the pitch. Everything has been created from over 20 years of coaching experience, focusing on the challenges grassroots coaches face every week—not just what to coach, but how to continue improving as a coach. Whether you’re leading your first team or have been coaching for years, the aim is simple: to help you become a better coach and create better learning experiences for your players.

Instructions on how to do that are here

Welcome to the Football Coaching Directory 👋 This is a free community built to help people across football discover and share useful tools, apps, resources, courses, communities and content. If you are a coach, you can use the community to find products that make coaching easier, ask for recommendations and discover resources you may not have seen before. If you create or run something for the football community, you are welcome to promote it here. That could be: ⚽ A coaching app or online tool 📋 Session plans or downloadable resources 🎓 A course or coaching community 🎙️ A podcast, newsletter or YouTube channel 📚 A book, website or equipment 🤝 A request for feedback, testers or collaborators You can make one promotional post per day. Please choose the most relevant category and avoid posting the same advert repeatedly. The aim is to make this a useful place to discover what people across football are building, not simply another feed full of copied-and-pasted links. The Classroom contains permanent pages for selected football tools, products, resources and communities. We will explain how those listings work as the directory develops. To get started, introduce yourself below: 1. Where are you based? 2. What is your role in football? 3. Are you here mainly to discover, promote—or both? 4. What is one tool or resource you already recommend? Welcome to FCD. Kevin
