Do you prefer a Cedar or Spruce top?
I don't want to start a debate about which one is best 😅, just know what you find most suitable for your playing style and sound, can be both, but not for the poll!

My first guitar was a cedar top. I’ve owned it since 1987. I gave up playing for 22 years, and only acquired my second guitar (another cedar) in 2022 when I picked up the guitar again after my long sabbatical. I don’t think I realized there were spruce vs cedar tops until coming back to the guitar. I also own one spruce top, purchased in early 2023. It’s my nicest/most expensive guitar, and I really enjoy it. But I rotate through all three of my guitars, and if I had to choose just one to live with for the rest of my life, I’d pick cedar.
Introduce yourself 😊
Welcome to all our new members! Please comment below and introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background with the Classical Guitar ⭐️ If you don’t know me already - I am a professional Classical Guitarist based in Glasgow, Scotland. I enjoy collaborating with living composers to bring new works to the guitar and have an album with 8 new works coming out soon - featuring Composers from all around the world. I also play in the Malvina Guitar Duo with the very gifted @Adam Brown . Looking forward to getting to know everyone and super excited for our first live Q & A video session which will be on google meet. (We will establish the date and time once we can see which time zones are involved throughout our currently growing membership) Warmly Stewart 🎸

I'm an amateur guitarist who played a lot in the 80s and 90s, tapering off towards the end of that decade, then quit entirely for 22 years (career, kids, etc.). I picked the guitar back up in June 2023 and have been making up for lost time. I even started taking lessons again, for the first time since 1990. (My teacher wasn't even born then!) I enjoy music from all eras of the guitar, though recently I've been focusing on Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Appunti and Torroba's Castles of Spain, plus some fun stuff from living composers (Peter Nuttall, Angela Mair, Richard Charlton, Maria Linnemann). I'm also a big fan of Ponce and hoping to tackle some of his stuff soon.

Hello, happy to join this new group. I've been active in various CG-related internet forums since the late '90s, so some of you may know me already. I am 66 years old and live in Salt Lake City, UT. I have played CG for 50+ years, at an intermediate level. I think of myself as more of specialist in CG history and repertoire, than I do as a Performer. Looking forward to meeting others here.
