Hey everyone, my name is Kenny — born and raised in New York currently working full time in IT for non-profit in NY. I plan to take a career break at the start of next year to foster new skills. I’m interested in e-sports, learning languages, and investing with coast FIRE mindset. I discovered the Remote Freedom Community through Austin’s socials while researching opportunities for remote work and ways to stretch the value of the dollar to help accelerate my FIRE goals. Living in one of the most expensive places in the U.S., and seeing the current political and economic climate, it’s been difficult to picture a long-term future in the states — let alone retirement. What excites me most about working remotely is the flexibility; having the freedom to work from anywhere and reclaiming the hours lost to commuting. I currently spend about an hour each way traveling to and from work on public transit. As for travel, I’ve visited Canada and The Bahamas with family; however, my first real international travel experience was to Japan, a country I’ve returned to a few times over the past couple of years. Visiting Asia for the first time opened my eyes to how different quality of life can be across the world. It inspired me to potentially plan more trips around Asia and beyond to continue expanding my perspectives and horizons. I am excited to surround myself with people who may share similar ambitions while building and learning from those with different or broader experiences. 🙏
