What are you working on?
Our shop has been busy lately, which is always a good thing! Some things that we have gotten in recent include a Remington 1100, a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard, and a Röhm Gesellschaft(RG) revolver, just to name a few. What are you working on in currently? And what are some things that you notice about the firearms that we have pictured here?

Stock work, bluing, polishing, sight install…just to name a few.
14-Day Challenge! Day 9: The Lubricant Experiment
Grab your current lubricant and tell us: What are you using, why did you choose it, and have you ever tried anything different? If you're willing, compare it to another option and report back.

BALLISTOL!!! All day long. It’s an excellent cleaner and lubricant. And when I’m bluing a gun, it’s an excellent water displacing oil and gives the fresh bluing a great cure.
Question of the Week
What is your favorite gun, real and/or fictional? What makes it your favorite?

Hands down, 1911! But, every day carry, it’s Glock. Now on the gunsmith side of the coin…my least favorite to work on is anything in the 22lr caliber.

Hello all! Thank you for adding me to the membership. My name is Kenneth Johnson and I am the owner and gunsmith at Papa Ralph’s Gunworks located in southeast Alabama. I started gunsmithing in 2017. I mentored under my late father in law who was a retired army vet that served two tours in Vietnam as a sniper. He became a machinist after he retired and began gunsmithing. I learned from him until he passed away a few years ago. I’m a full time certified aircraft mechanic and have been in this trade for 25 years. I am also a welder with 2 years of college certifications and 10 years experience in mig, tig, and stick welding. Lastly, my father is a carpenter and I grew up in his shop learning woodworking. I said all this in hopes that my experience can bring knowledge, tips, and tricks in the gunsmith trade. I love helping people, just as people have helped me through the years. And I love to learn!! There’s always something to be learned in gunsmithing and I definitely want to learn all I can. I’m glad to be here and can’t wait to meet everyone!!
