The affect of Music 🎶
In my worst times of chronic illness I often turned to songs to keep me going, I coined the phrase ‘ “Super Coping” I had: “D Ream - Things can only get better” played on repeat. Sort of a pattern interrupt to those thoughts that can often spiral when you’re struggling. As I learnt to manage a new me, and worked through various treatments, flares and in turn change of career (let’s face it, chronic illness brings into question many things about ourselves) I found a new song. Andra Day - Rise up The tune builds, the words are strong and the purpose is definitely “I can do this” 💪🏻 I’m just curious if music has featured in your super coping moments and indeed in your next chapter ?

I can really relate to this! ❤️ All You Need Is Now by Duran Duran became my illness recovery theme, but there are so many other songs I could relate to different moments along the way. 🎶 It’s amazing how how a song can become an anchor, bringing us back to a moment when we needed something to hold on to. I've found that music has been my most powerful coping device! ❤️
What is one adaptation you’ve made that has improved your quality of life, even a little?
When we talk about adaptation, it’s easy to focus on the big changes. But often it’s the small adjustments that make the biggest difference over time. For example: • pacing differently • setting clearer boundaries • using reminders and notes for brain fog • scheduling rest before you need it • asking for help sooner • simplifying daily routines Many of these changes may seem small from the outside, but they can have a significant impact on how we experience everyday life. We’d love to hear: What’s one adaptation you’ve made that has genuinely helped, even if it seems minor? Your experience may give someone else an idea they haven’t considered.

I’ve learned how to work smarter and not always harder. Building a skill to the point it becomes and automated rhythm rather than something requiring an over extension of mental energy.

I was having a challenging day mentally. Probably bit off more than I can chew this past week. But I was able to take time out, reset and self regulate.
