Business analogy
This week’s MX‑5 runs reminded me of something I see in small business all the time: When the road gets twisty, the worst thing you can do is freeze. Look ahead, choose your line, commit — and adjust as you go. Whether it’s pricing, hiring, or systems, momentum beats perfection every time.

Xero Pricing increase 1 July 2026
Message from Xero: "Xero has advised that it's making changes to the price of its subscriptions in Australia. This reflects their ongoing commitment to investing in a platform that helps you run your business. From 1 July 2026, the following changes will apply: • Ignite plan increases to $37 per month • Grow plan increases to $78 per month • Comprehensive plan increases to $107 per month • Ultimate 10 plan increases to $143 per month • Ultimate 20 plan increases to $180 per month • Ultimate 50 plan increases to $250 per month • Ultimate 100 plan increases to $300 per month. This year, Xero delivered a wave of new capabilities to make the platform faster, more insightful, and smarter behind the scenes. Pricing is in AUD, includes GST, and is subject to change at any time on notice to you as per Xero's terms of use. As a reminder, any subscription on special discounted pricing will no longer be eligible for that discount if you move that subscription to a different plan, and it cannot be transferred to another plan or customer. If you have any questions, please let me know"

Xero should now be back online....
Not sure how many of you have been impacted this week by the Xero outages: "We've updated our status page to reflect that our technical teams have implemented a fix for the third-party hardware issue that impacted our platform - an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that impacted various organisations globally. Between the fixes now implemented for the AWS outage and our own platform challenges you should now be able to use Xero without issue."

🔥 SPICY SATURDAY: What’s the bookkeeping lie you keep telling yourself?
Let’s stir the pot today. Everyone has that one lie they tell themselves about their books: - “I’ll fix it when things quiet down.” - “It’s only a few uncoded transactions.” - “I’ll learn Xero properly… later.” Pick your poison. Drop the lie you’ve been running with — the one you KNOW is costing you time, money, or sanity. No shame. No fluff. Just honesty and a laugh while we drag our own habits into the light. Go on. What’s yours?
