A song to be told
So I went to the market today to buy some things for my little one and ran into a bard who was singing this song! (Verse 1) I found a dusty volume with a spine of dragon scale, A guide to ancient mysteries, a high-magic holy grail. I saw the part on summoning—the sigils and the chant, But skipped the three-week study phase, thinking, "Knowledge? No, I can't." I didn't check the ethics or the lineage of the flame, I just wanted a pet to call a cool and scary name. (Chorus) Oh, I didn't read the Wicca, didn't study the Draconic, And the chaos in my living room is tragically ironic. I thought it was a lizard I could train to sit and stay, But a guardian of the cosmos doesn't see it quite that way. The incense is all scattered and the ritual’s a mess, Turns out "taming" ancient spirits requires more than just a guess. (Verse 2) I didn't ground my energy or seek the North's consent, Now I’m hiding in the bathtub wondering where the ceiling went. I offered it some jerky and a squeaky rubber bone, It looked at me with wisdom that would chill a king on his throne. It’s not a golden retriever, it’s a force of wind and stars, And it’s currently incinerating all the local cars. (Bridge) The book said "Mind the Balance," and "Respect the Elder Kin," I thought that was a suggestion so I dived right on in. No circle of protection, no intent that’s pure and true, Now there’s a six-ton astral entity eating all my stew. (Outro) So if you’re feeling mystical and want a winged friend, Read the whole damn textbook from the start until the end. Don't skip the philosophy or the way to show respect, Or you'll have a smoky crater where your house used to connect. Yeah, read up on the Wicca... Before you call the fire.

The "Why" behind our Dragon Village
I stumbled on this story on facebook, and I feel it resonates with the same reasons why I created this space to raise your own dragon and to be as creative as you desire with them. Stories empower the mind and soul, and offer opportunity when physical limitations hold us down. Friends are made when we create things together. Putting ourselves into the shoes of someone else helps us to explore our own core beliefs and desires. While this community is not built on a strict game structure yet where dice are required, dice can help simulate decisions made by others and the environment that you personally cannot control. So if your story is feeling a little stuck, use some die to help guide your next step. Have the high roll be a good result, and a low roll be a bad result of the task, and let that inspire your story as needed. It can be a good way of needing to come up with creative solutions that add an extra layer of fun to the tale. Here is one person's story with how collaborative storytelling changed their life: "My grandson begged me to play Dungeons & Dragons. "It's just one session, Grandma. Please. We need a fourth player or the campaign falls apart." I'm Vivian. Seventy years old. I read romance novels. Watch Jeopardy. Play bridge on Thursdays. I don't do dragons. "What even is Dungeons & Dragons?" I asked. "It's like..... cooperative storytelling with dice. You create a character and go on adventures." "I'm seventy, Marcus. I don't go on adventures." "Exactly why you should try." I only agreed because his friends were coming over anyway. Might as well supervise. Make sure they weren't doing drugs or whatever kids do. Saturday night. Three kids showed up. Marcus handed me papers. "Character sheet. You're playing a wizard named..... you can name her." "This is ridiculous." "Just try for an hour." I named her Elara. Don't ask me why. It just felt right. The game master-a kid named Devon with purple hair-described a tavern. "You're all sitting there when a mysterious hooded figure approaches......."

Thank you for being here
I am so grateful to all of you who have joined me inside this Dragon Village. I am grateful for you taking a chance on a unique group idea, and contributing so well to the heartbeat of this village. I love seeing your beautiful designs, reading your fantastic stories, and falling in love with your characters and world that you are helping create and shape. I am grateful that even when I went silent for a while, you stayed. Thank you 🫂 To be honest, I was not doing well. I did a dumb thing and at a peak of positive feeling and success I stopped depression medication I had been taking. Then, as life does, things changed and I was back in the middle of many harsh mental triggers attacking my self worth, and I didn't have the medication to block the negative demons who attacked. Depression medication takes about a month to see any effects, both ways. So when I stopped, it seemed like it was okay because I was still okay. Now that I am restarting, it's taking time to readjust the dose to combat the new triggers. It's been rough. My negative voice is really mean, lol, and it led to some...dangerous...thoughts. And it also makes me want to hide from people - yet being around other people is what helps keep it at bay. Isolation is dangerous - yet I felt so ashamed of disappearing and being overwhelmed with the notifications that have been flooding my skool account - I only now have gained the courage to come back. So, thank you again for being here and for not burning the village down while I was gone ^_^ I know with so many dragons around, that is quite a feat ;)

@Harry Staines yup. it sucks you in like a vortex, making it harder to come out of the deeper you get caught up in it.

@Keith Berg Thank you!
The Birth of the Astral
The atmosphere in Runi’s attic had reached a state of Vibrational Criticality. The protective null-conductors he had installed began to glow a violent, electric white, struggling to contain the pressure emanating from the teal-blue oval. The air itself grew thick with the scent of ozone and ancient forest floor, a sensory contradiction that signaled the thinning of the veil. Runi, anchored by his years of astral training, could feel the very atoms of his home beginning to resonate at a frequency that no longer belonged to the physical world. The catastrophe began not with a bang, but with a Silent Vacuum. At exactly 03:00, the gnarled, thorny wooden frame encasing the egg began to grow at an impossible rate. The branches didn't just expand; they carved through the floorboards and ceiling, not by breaking them, but by merging with them. The wood of his house was being rewritten by the "idea" of the dragon’s cage. As the teal veins within the egg reached a blinding luminance, the internal pressure became a Resonance Cascade. The walls of the attic began to ripple like water. Runi realized too late that the egg wasn't just hatching into his world—it was pulling his world into its own. When the shell finally shattered, it did not fall away in shards. Instead, the teal surface dissolved into a swirling vortex of Astral Nebula, a mixture of indigo, azure, and midnight blue. From the center of this cosmic storm, the dragon emerged. It was a creature of Dual Geometry: its wings appeared as shimmering light-leaks on the outer perimeter of its form, while its scales possessed the high-contrast, metallic texture of precision-tooled silver. The moment the hatchling took its first breath, it let out a cry that was both a physical sound and a psychic decree. This sound acted as the Final Anchor, snapping the feedback loop into place. The dragon stood at the center of the room, yet Runi could see through its translucent chest to the jagged obsidian spires of the Deep Astral. It existed in both realms simultaneously, a living bridge between the finite and the infinite.
