How is your dog at the vet?
One of the common things clients tell us is their dog is terrible at the vet. The dog is “perfect” everywhere else but not there. My question back is usually “well what are you doing to prepare your dog for success at the vet?”. Are you working on touching and grabbing random areas, look at teeth and ears, accountability during the ride there and in the waiting room? What about leverage their obedience while in the exam room? Dogs can be successful at the vet but it’s up to us to set them up for success! Are you struggling with the vet? Let me know! Want other tips? Let me know!

Nara and I could definitely use some help on this. As soon as we enter the vet, Nara is shaking, panting, and whining. I have to ask the vet to take Nara to the back and do everything without me there because of Nara's protectiveness (she'll hide or snap if we're in the same room). We did have an incident last time where the vet did get bit by Nara during a UTI test. Was kind of surprised by this since they're supposed to be a certified "fear free" vet and Nara's file has all kinds of notes about her anxiety. She is very obedient though and goes to "place" to get weighed. She'll lay down if I tell her to.

@Jace Allanson yeah, I have her ecollar on at the vet. Sometimes the make me take off the prong collar though.
Question: Triangle Drills
We do triangle drills (almost) daily. We typically use the commands "kennel", "place", and "come". When Nara is in her kennel/told the kennel command she knows she has to stay in there until I give her the "free" command. So, of course, when doing triangle drills she hesitates to come out of the kennel when I give her a command that's not "free". Which is usually really great! However, it's weird when doing triangle drills to say "free", then another command almost immediately. Mostly because she then thinks we're just done with the triangle drills, walks off, and then I'm reigning her back in with another command to finish out session. Any suggestions?

Katie and Nara live in Atlanta, GA. Nara is an anxious mess and we're constantly working on stress-induced reactivity.
