So in Japanese we have imasu for living things and arimasu for non living things. Easy. People imasu. Chairs arimasu. But then the twenty first century shows up with one problem no textbook prepared for. Robots. They move. They talk. Some even apologize more than I do in Japanese class. If a robot walks across the room and answers your questions, is it imasu or arimasu?

昨日、クリスマスマーケットで花の風船を買いました。少し高かった！でも、風船を持っている私を見た人たちはニコニコしていました。だから、嬉しかったよ〜 (*´꒳`*)
