7 contributions to The Long Distance Mimi
☕️❤️ WELL, LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A WEEKLY DATE. (🎉 🥳🎉)
Introducing 38 Minutes with Christi aka The Long Distance Mimi You know all those conversations we've been having in the comments? I've been thinking we need to get together and actually TALK about this stuff. Live. Face to face (if you want). With actual humans. 😂 Real conversations. Real questions. Real, actionable ideas. And the goal? To figure out how to make our relationships and our lives EASIER, BETTER, and a whole lot more FUN. HERE'S OUR FIRST FOUR TUESDAYS: 🏡 NOV 3: Moving Closer or Moving Away? What Nobody Tells You... Should you stay? Should you go? Will moving closer actually make you closer? Let's talk BEFORE somebody buys a house. 😂 🎄 NOV 10: The Holidays: Whose Turn Is It Anyway? Whose house? Whose year? Who's disappointed? And how do we stop making assumptions nobody agreed to? ❤️ NOV 17: Can You Build a Life You Love AND Stay Close to Your Family? Your adult kids are busy building their lives. You're allowed to have one, too. Let's figure out what that actually looks like. 💌 NOV 24: Long-Distance Grandparenting: The Hard Parts AND the Good Stuff The missed moments, the visits, the airport goodbyes, the laughs, and creative ways to stay connected without living down the street. SO WHAT AM I BRINGING TO THE PARTY? I'm fascinated by human behavior. Why we think what we think. Why we say things we probably shouldn't. Why we get our feelings hurt over something nobody actually promised us. And YES, that includes my own behavior. I've given myself plenty of material to study. 😂 🧠 Brain science nerd with 25+ years of experience in adult learning and behavior change. 💍 16 years as a mother-in-law. And yes, I've learned a thing or two. ❤️ 14 years as a Mimi. Best gig ever. 👩‍❤️‍👩 Navigating the mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship. Made mistakes. Learned plenty. 👯‍♀️ Friends with the OTHER grandma. Yep, it can happen. 😂 🏡 Lived close to my adult kids and grandkids. Been there. 🚐 Moved 1,800 miles away. Done that, too. So yeah, I've got a few things to contribute to these conversations. 😂

Interested in the long distance grand parenting discussion the most! Just wondering if (or when) my letters and boxes of fun stop being … fun? How can I stay relevant?? One question I’d love to tackle: what books or resources or ideas are available (if any) that help foster heathy long-distant relationships with our own grown children?
🔥 WEEK 4 IS COMING: TIME TO GET AUDACIOUS 😂🔥
Okay, ladies. We still have 11 days left in our Delusionally Alive Challenge, but I want to get you thinking about something NOW. Because Week 4 is when we start making our AUDACIOUS MOVES. Remember those things you've always wanted to do but keep putting off? The trip. The class. The adventure. The crazy idea. The thing that makes you think, "Who the hell do I think I am?" THOSE THINGS. 😂 For the past three weeks, we've been building our Delusional Confidence. Breaking old patterns. Going first. Trying new things. Making our worlds a little bigger. And we've been giving our brains evidence that we CAN do things differently. Now we're getting ready to turn up the heat. 🔥 Remember our Delusion Meter? Week 1, we were shooting for 2s and 3s. Week 2, a 3. Week 3, some 3s and 4s. Week 4? We're going looking for those 4s and 5s. And no, you don't need to write an entire book, move to Italy or jump out of an airplane. 😂 You just need to take ONE audacious action that moves something you've been dreaming about out of your head and into your actual life. Because we can spend YEARS thinking about doing something. And you know what thinking about it gets us? More thinking. 😂 ACTION CREATES CHANGE. So here's what I want you to do over these next 11 days. Start thinking about that thing you've always wanted to do. The one that feels a little too bold, too late, too ridiculous or too far outside your comfort zone. Don't talk yourself out of it yet. Current You and her clipboard can take a day off. 😂 Just get curious. 🔥 LET'S HEAR IT: What's ONE thing you've always wanted to do that would score a 4 or 5 on YOUR Delusion Meter? You don't have to know HOW you're going to do it yet. I just want you to be brave enough to SAY IT. Because sometimes saying it out loud is the first audacious move. And ladies, we are just getting started. 🔥 The magic happens outside your comfort zone. Always.

That’s wonderful! I just put myself on social media and I’m still uncomfortable with it but I know it will get easier. I joined my first community book club that meets inside a cocktail lounge!!! Who knew? And this weekend I’m attending my first journalling workshop. Using my extra time to build a full and rewarding life for myself! ♥️ it’s time!
Welcome! 🤗
What's ONE thing you've been putting off that you'd love to do in this next chapter of your life?

I have wanted to get involved in my community. And now I’m realizing that my community is not limited to my home town! How awesome is that? My community is with other people having fun and enjoying life… wherever I happen to be!
Going Places in 2027!
Ladies, I’ve got an idea brewing, and I want YOUR input. What if we got a group of women together next year for a little adventure? New friends. New experiences. Lots of laughing. And absolutely no waiting around for someone else to make plans for us. I’m thinking about three possibilities: 🇮🇸 1. ICELAND Waterfalls, hot springs, incredible scenery, and an adventure we’ll be talking about for years. 🤠 2. WHITE STALLION RANCH, TUCSON A little cowgirl adventure. Horses, beautiful desert scenery, great food, and time to kick back with some fabulous women. 🌵 3. SEDONA, ARIZONA Red rocks, hiking, shopping, great restaurants, and maybe a little woo-woo thrown in for good measure. No husbands required. No need to bring a girlfriend. Come solo and leave with a few new ones. I’m just testing interest right now. No dates, prices, or commitments yet. SO LADIES, WHICH ONE GETS YOUR VOTE? And would you seriously consider joining us? Because I’ve got places to go, people to meet, and adventures to have. Who’s coming with me? ❤️

I did the AI challenge and received wonderful ideas on how to better connect with my grandkids and fun ideas of things to try that truly incorporate their favorite things with my responses. So excited to try these new ideas!!! Thank you!!
