Check in time!
Would you please create a post in here and tell us about: - One moment that felt empowering - One moment that still felt challenging - One thing this challenge has already taught you about yourself - One unexpected benefit that you’ve experienced since starting this challenge

Empowering: credit card bill was close to HALF of last years monthly average!! Challenging: the impulse/urgency urges in the store. I’m finding it takes a lot of mental work to avoid unnecessary spending in some areas (especially those like food/personal care which feel like a “need”) Something you’ve learned about yourself: I want to shop around when I’m bored. I am home part time with a toddler and am struggling to find more activities we enjoy that aren’t shopping. I also have a habit of trying to “optimize” or make everything efficient. So I try to pick things up early even if we don’t need them yet to “save a trip” or “get it all over with”. Or try to add more things to a shopping list when really I only need one or two things, to make it “worth the trip”. Unexpected benefit: changing even how I think about “needs” in general, especially when grocery shopping or shopping for health related things. I.e. I don’t have to have extra of everything, or buy something new that functions almost the same as something we already own.
How many of you are also decluttering right now?
Hi! Just a quick question - I am curious to know how many of you are decluttering a little bit during your no-buy challenge period? How has that felt? Would anyone be interested in doing a community "decluttering session" together, where we all log on at a set time and declutter together for additional accountability/be able to chat together? I like to ask that because I really see decluttering and becoming an intentional shopper / buying less STUFF as two sides of the same coin. If you don't do both, you aren't going to get the sustainable, meaningful life change. What questions do you have that I can help with?

I am! Did a huge full house declutter, but in the second round of decluttering/maintenance-ish. The no buy is such a great complement to the decluttering!! Love the idea of a decluttering session!
Check in
Hi all!! So happy to be on this journey with all of you! From the check in this week, I’ve noticed the urge to shop comes with an idea - usually related to a problem that “needs fixing”, or something related to my identity, i.e. finding a new shower curtain, or sweater that I think will represent who I am to the world better (side note - I love the question, if no one saw me wear/have this thing, would I still want it?). My wins have been around grocery shopping and shopping in general - sticking to a bi-weekly grocery shop, and not having to stop for things on the way home from every outing or appointment is SO freeing!
Feel Good Friday!
How is everyone doing today and this week? Have you struggled with anything? Things are mostly good over here, aside from my youngest (5) and I getting hit with a fever/cough late yesterday. We're both feeling better today but not 100%, so today has been a lot of coloring and Bluey watching! I would love it if we could start a "Feel Good Friday" post where everyone posts one of their "wins" or positive benefits to being in the challenge! Maybe that's money saved, time saved, improved relationships, whatever! I am going to add "categories" to our community so that it's easier to see posts, so please feel free to use these on your future posts! 🏆Wins ❓Questions/Advice 👋Intros 😀Fun ✅Check-Ins

This weeks win: meal planning before grocery shopping. This is a HUGE win for me! I usually make a list of general/staple items we use often but with no real plan. I always thought meal planning would feel boring or confining (high suspected ADHD brain here), but I planned out meal options (without specifying a day) and a few back ups and found myself actually excited to cook them and I’m looking forward to specific meals!! Big surprise!! And doing a big bi-weekly trip feels more manageable for time to do more meaningful activities during the week. Extra win!
