So…what are your thoughts on the first section?! What’s standing out to you? Also—anyone else LOVE when a book starts with a map?! What are you thinking so far? 👇

"for when I saw all that I had been farmilar with again, everything was changed in my eyes, and yet it did remain the way it had always been, only that I did not see anything the same way again.". For me this is how I feel about traveling and why it is so important to me. This very concept that coming back with fresh eyes is at the source of my desire to bring my children along on our travels and help them rediscover the world with "fresh" eyes so to speak.
Common Zinnia
Today I explored a Common Zinnia for part of our botanical expedition for our Wander and Wonder Botanical Challenge. I learned that they are composite flowers with three arrangements: single, semi double and fully double. I then went on the hunt in my garden to see if I had all three arrangements and if the colors indicated it the arrangement type.

Weaver Bridge at Lake Bryant
Here is my go to spot on the greenway that I am training for the Mammoth March on. Each time I pass by I see something different. So far a Rainbow, swimming deer, fisherman under the bridge, Egret, and Blue Huron. Do you have a favorite spot on trail?

🌿 BOTANICAL EXPEDITION 🌿
We will be reading the first 50-60 pages. Inspired by Among Flowers, your challenge this week is to choose ONE plant you've never really stopped to study. 🔎 Observe it before you identify it. Sketch it. Notice its colors, shapes, textures, and details. Look for insects or other creatures using it. Then give it your own temporary name based on what you see. Only after you've finished observing, look up its actual name. 🌱 Journal prompt: “Before today, I thought this plant was ____. Now I see ____.” 📸 Share your plant + journal page below!
