Something that has been heavy this month
Parenting can be a challenge, as many parents will tell you. Being a single mom is a totally different level. I've survived raising my 5 kids until this point. They're 25, 19, almost 18, 16 and 11. But the biggest struggle lately has been with the mental health of my youngest. I don't know if it's hormones, life, the brain....but it has been a very challenging time. Have you encountered mental health issues with your child(ren)? What helped you through?

I see you and hear you. I’ve raised two children as a single mom for 12 years- until recently. My youngest is autistic and when puberty hit- our world was turned upside down. Suicidal ideations and I felt helpless. Due to his diagnosis, ABA therapy had helped us through but I have to say one of the most pivotal moves I made was family therapy two times a week. I am skill active with it to this day. Someone to help me navigate his changes but also the entire family dynamics as well. I have been a driven successful woman, excelling at most things in life. This one left me stumped- feeling helpless at times. So many emotions. Holding space for you. This is not an easy journey even for the most competent high capacity women. Sendings positive energy your way!

@Janice Becker anytime you need a sounding board- one mama to another- I’m here. Feel free to shoot me an email if you want to just have a brain dump and name what’s heavy (no pressure or business) Just connection. I know it helps me too when I speak with other moms who “get it” - kate@risecocoaching.com
