If you're not sure, post an idea and we'll help you workshop it. It's okay if the goal is a big scary--we'll cheerlead you! Shoot for the moon and land among the stars. @Lee Savino yes! I have a juicy standalone I can test.
Halp! What do I do?
Someone left a rave review of my most current book in a huge reader group. They have 2 million members or something insane like that. That book has done well for the last three or four days. I’m wondering if I can somehow boost the algorithm by doing an ad or something? It’s ranked around 6400. I’d love to get it to stick there for a while or even go higher. I did write on a post it when this book came out that it was going to be my breakout so I’d love to manifest that! Any advice would be appreciated

What is your zone of genius?
I'm rereading the Big Leap by Gay Hendricks and here are the questions to figure out where to focus your time and energy: What do I love to do that I can do for long periods without getting bored? (You're passionate about it and love the challenge... you can also discover this by trying things you hate and figuring out what you'd want instead) What work do I do that doesn't feel like work? (you'd do it for free!) In my work, what produces the highest ratio of abundance and satisfaction amount of time spent? (this lens shows you the money) What is my unique ability? (often this is a combo of the above but with your own twist). My zone of genius is reading, networking with authors and entrepreneurs (I would do this for free), digital products (I figured this out by attempting to sell physical products and hating it), coaching and talking about self help strategies and mindset stuff (I do it for free), writing spicy scenes or group action scenes with wacky side characters (my word count per hour doubles or triples with these scenes).... and hypnotherapy . I also love dance, music, and creating playlists but more for fun. Same with gardening witchy, wild spaces. You?

Connecting with readers. Brainstorming (which I used to hate, but screenwriting has taught me to love it), creating characters.
Do you sabotage yourself?
I've been rereading the Big Leap and he talks about how we all have an upper limit, the high end of our comfort zone where we might sabotage ourselves before ascending it. I'm curious if you've noticed this in your own life. I definitely hit one in 2022. Some of it was burn out--I didn't allow myself enough rest and fun to recooperate. And I once left a room of very successful authors, telling myself I did belong (even though I did!). And I see how I avoid being more visible on social media--there's some visibility I allow but I tend to control it. Denise DT talks about how some people get sick before launches, or don't allow themselves to launch at all! Or spend their money as fast as they make it, or give their money away or feel guilty about saving it. Or avoid doing the things that would make them successful, like marketing (I've done this too!). Think of a time you had some break out success or momentum and notice how you behaved. Did you celebrate? Allow yourself to rest? Or did you go out and wreck your car (I had an entrepreneurial ex-boyfriend who did this every time business went well)? No judgement, just notice! How do you sabotage yourself when reaching your upper limit?

Oh boy I do. I think when I have "extra" time, I don't use it wisely. I have a hard time with boundaries which in turn self-sabotages my to-do list. I could go on. And on.

@Amy Saville Yes! I also started reading The Big Leap. I totally see myself in all this.
