🟣 Friday Jan 2, 2026: The Habit That Moves the Needle
New goals don’t deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle isn’t an outcome. It's a process — built one habit at a time. With a new year beginning and resolutions everywhere, I want to gently reframe something. Goals matter, yes. But goals don’t create change on their own. Without habits to support them, they’re just wishes. The real work — and the real progress — lives in what we repeat consistently. So here’s the reflection for today: "What new habit do you want to put in place to support something that matters to you in 2026?" That habit might look like: - Committing to a realistic, repeatable workout schedule - Creating a simple weekly or monthly budgeting habit - Setting aside one specific time each month to work on acro lesson planning - Scheduling planning or recovery time into your calendar ahead of time, instead of leaving it to “when you have energy” Tell us the habit you’re choosing to build this year. Not the result you want, but the process you’re willing to practice. 💜

I love that you have these framed as habits and not goals. Mine is creating a bedtime routine I look forward to, so I hopefully don't stay up trying to get "one more thing" done.
🟢 Weekly Teaching Focus: Monday Dec 29, 2025
Since classes are still off this week, the focus is to set one clear acro teaching goal for 2026. "What is one thing you want to do better or more consistently in class next year?" Some ideas: - Improve your spotting skills this year - Be clearer and shorter with verbal cues - Break down and progress skills more effectively - Focus more on strength and flexibility - Manage class time more efficiently - Work toward a bigger skill in your classes (anyone close to aerials or backsprings?) Pick one. Write it down. Share it with us. Taking a few minutes now makes it easier to teach with intention when classes start back up next week:) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📅 Coming Up: The "Flip the Script Challenge" starts today inside the "Safe & Successful Acro Dancer" group. It’s a free, fun student challenge where dancers become the teacher and their grown-up becomes the student. Expect videos, funny moments, and a grand prize at the end of the week for the kids! You’re welcome to: - Send students to join - Jump in and cheer them on - Or both Here’s the link to join or share:👉 https://www.skool.com/thesafeandsuccessfulacrodancer/about?ref=d5aed3ab43784c16812934ec8955c45c Did you know: Teachers earn a 40% monthly commission on any referred students who later upgrade to a paid tier. It's free to join, and affiliate links are easy to grab inside the group. Fun week. Low effort. Easy win for students on break.

My goal is all of the above for sure, but if I have to pick one, it's to manage class time more efficiently, so I have time to get into the details of drills, tricks, etc.
🟣 What Worked This Week: Friday Dec 26, 2025
This week worked because we gave it permission to just rest. No classes to run. No energy to manage. No momentum to chase. That matters. So often we measure success by output. But this week reminded us that recovery is also part of the system. Rest is not falling behind. Rest is maintenance. Rest is how we protect clarity, patience, and longevity as teachers. If all you did this week was pause, exhale, and let your nervous system come down a notch — that worked. And if rest felt unfamiliar or uncomfortable, that counts too - and keep going. This is literally the only time of the year that everyone (almost) takes time off all at the same time! "What is rest or relaxation looking like for you right now during the break?" It might be obvious. It might be subtle. Both count. Share if you want. Observing is enough. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📅 Coming Up: The "Flip The Script" parent participation challenge inside our free student Skool group, "The Safe & Successful Acro Dancer" is happening starting on Monday! It starts next week - and it's going to be a riot! Come and have fun with us and the kids. Free group link right here: https://www.skool.com/thesafeandsuccessfulacrodancer/about Take care and enjoy your Friday:) Melissa

Enjoying the time at home - doing some Pilates/acro classes with my daughters in our basement. Teaching with 0 pressure is so fun. Lots of cozy pajama and coffee/tea time!!
🔵 Midweek Teacher Check-In: Wed Dec 24, 2025
You carried the weeks that led you here, With steady hands through busy air. Not everything polished, planned, or neat, Still — you showed up. That counts as a feat. As this week lands on Christmas, take a moment to acknowledge the effort it took to arrive here. The planning. The holding space. The steady showing up, even when energy was low or schedules were full. Today’s check-in is simple: "What effort are you grateful for in yourself this week — even if it wasn’t perfect or visible?" You’re welcome to share a thought, a moment, or a quiet win you want to name. However this day looks for you, may it include a breath, a pause, and a little appreciation for the teacher you’ve been all month. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from us to you 🥰

The effort I was grateful for last week was making it through the day-to-day chores consistently so that, when Christmas arrived, my mind could enjoy time with family instead of being distracted by things I needed to do.
🟢 Weekly Teaching Focus: Monday Dec 22, 2025
The term slows down, the year feels near, Christmas break is almost here. Before we rush to what comes next, Pause with what this season left. As we move into the Christmas break, this week’s focus isn’t about adding anything new. It’s about noticing. Before the year fully closes, take a quiet moment to reflect on this past term. What’s one teaching habit, mindset, or choice that truly supported you or your students — something you’d like to carry forward into the new year? No fixing. No planning ahead yet. Just awareness and acknowledgment. If you’re teaching, choreographing, checking in on admin, or fully stepping away for the holidays, this reflection still counts. It’s part of strong, sustainable teaching. If you’d like to share, tell us: "What’s one thing from this past term you’re choosing to keep?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📅 Coming Up: In one week, we’re hosting a free, fun student challenge inside the "Safe and Successful Acro Dancer" student Skool group: The "Flip the Script": Parent Participation Challenge - A light, engaging holiday activity students can do with one of their grown ups over the Christmas break! Teachers are welcome to check it out or invite their students to join. It's designed to be playful, supportive, and pressure-free. One teaching habit that I will continue in the new year is being thorough and precise with the kids' warmups (ADTA). Spending a little extra time to ask for proper technique (stretched knees, straight legs, etc.) has really made a difference for the rest of the classwork. I love the technique warm-up so much because it's something I can count on in class to really connect with the kids and give each of them attention and feedback without other distractions.
