I'm a long distance international grandma, and have been for all of our grandchildren's lives. At the beginning we would visit for births, birthdays, Christmas other holidays and we always try to visit if not every year every second year during the summer for 6 weeks. We are 66 and 73 and now we are thinking of moving back to our country where our children and grandchildren are to be closer to them and to have less travel. As we look at aging, we always feel we need to be close by if anything happens. But then I read your journey and it makes me think if it is the correct decision to make, things happen in our children's lives, and yes we may settle in a place, then something happens and they move. Lots to think about.
