Day 8-9 reflection 1️⃣ Were you able to hear the clave clearly in the exercise? Yes and no. However, with different songs playing different instruments, some songs easier to catch Tap sound from wood Clave right away, some songs require me to listen for a while before catching the rhythm that integrate by different instruments that form the Clave rhythm. 2️⃣ Did you notice how the third beat prepares the step into the break? Yes, but still not clearly understood about preparing the step into the break. My understanding is that anticipating to hear the third beat that fall into the slow ( ? So call the break ) before preparing to the quick quick again !?! 3️⃣ Did stepping with the clave feel different than counting the rhythm? Yes, because I don’t have to worry about trying to count at the same time I step. All I need is listen and wait - try to react to the anticipates beat that going to come and step right on to the beat by hearing it, instead of try to step the feet by counting it. ( less active thinking of counting and more passive listening and move ) 4️⃣ Which song from the playlist helped you hear the rhythm most clearly? Son de la Loma and El cuarto de Tula has a strong instrument wood sound and more clear. While, Veinte años and Chan Chan, the rhythm is buried into other instruments, I heard the maracas 🪇 that produce the sound that make me find the rhythm of the clave the most, in this two songs. 😅 5️⃣ What part of this exercise felt the most challenging for you? Try to step on to the third beat of clave, I need to feel the rhythm first and then anticipate the movement on the beat and any distraction eg. the dog barking , may take me out of that mode and lose the control and I need to start over….
