Not able to make it today, conflicting meeting unfortunately. If ends early I will join.
This Week 🔥 + Last Week's Livestream
Last Week’s Livestream 🎥 Just uploaded the recording from last week’s livestream, it's under the classroom tab. We covered a lot, including clarifying my stance on plugins and how your production choices are actually marketing. This week, here’s what’s coming up 🔥 - Production Session with one of you — I’ll pick someone at random. If you want to be in the running, drop a comment and let me know. I'll be doing one per week moving forward - Fix the Mix video (like last week’s with Hunter) — if you want me to work on yours, send stems to dillygotitbumpin@gmail.com. - New Lesson dropping later this week. - Livestream – Friday at 1PM MST. Also, I want to hear everyone's goals for the week: 1️⃣ A concrete goal for the week (something you’ll actually finish and ideally share publicly). 2️⃣ A specific skill or focus you want to level up in your production. Example: “Understand sound design better” or “Simplify my mixing.”

Would like to be apart of the 1:1 production session👍🏼. Goals: 1️⃣Learn & then create a high quality Drake/Party Next Door sample to send out to producers to test if up to quality. The indicator of success is if it gets used. 2️⃣ Grow deeper understanding of sound design for Rnb & modern soul samples.

@Dylan Ochsner 1) Ideally I’d like to spend the time to make sure the beat achieves the desired outcome & vibe. So ideally, 1 sample that I would post/send out. This might mean I make 4 samples in actuality but my end result this week is to achieve a sample that has the quality that someone such as yourself, or another top producer would actually use. From there I will do 2 & 3 samples week by week to get the quantity up. 2) Exactly right, If I can understand exactly what makes the sound so impactful on the listener to the greatest detail, then I can apply that to my current samples & beats to achieve the same result. I. Currently my understanding is, elite vocal sample selection (sample that you keep thinking about after hearing). Vocal is downsampled with high reverbs almost to the point where you can’t understand the words but the emotion still comes through. II. 7th spacious legato chords, often with low attack, downsampled or low passed, Key isn’t incredibly important, my preference is C# Maj but can be achieved in other scales. Upright, electric, or sine wave pianos with low attack. An additional goal that might even be more important for me, is I need to be more disciplined as a creative. I need to pick a lane this week & become the best in that niche. Currently I do everything from Neosoul, to Drake RnB, to MBDTF type beats.
Update 🔥
Just dropped the new Mixing Lesson + Fixing a Mix video. Unfortunately, Justus — I tried, but wasn’t able to dive into your mix this week. There was a bass line missing, and several tracks were grouped together. If things are already consolidated into a bus or group, there’s not much I can change. When you send mixes, make sure each layer of the idea is tracked out on its own track (no buses or grouped stems). I really like this format — it’s a fun way to break things down and show how I approach mixing. If you want me to take a shot at fixing your mix, send the stems to dillygotitbumpin@gmail.com. (Justus, feel free to re-send that idea organized with each track separate.) Last week’s livestream will be posted tomorrow, one more lesson is coming later this week, and the next live session is Friday at 1PM MST for whoever can make it.

Apologies about that, I’ll make sure to watch some videos to make sure it is tracked out correctly on my resend. I appreciate your willingness for me to resend again though.
Bass Lines and sound selection uploading

Would be interested in learning about achieving as close to a live sound as possible with vsts. Some instruments it’s hard to (guitar), but making high quality samples with vsts & a midi keyboard would be valuable to me. On that point, how to achieve high quality sounds when you don’t have Kontakt, Omnisphere, or some of the other high end samplers, I would be interested in learning how to still achieve (or get as close as possible to) achieving that high quality sound until I can get those vsts. Also the vsts you recommend purchasing for various genres of beats & what presets/libraries within those vsts are great for different type beats.

@Dylan Ochsner Learn how the guitar works to be able to pay for play, one shots, & learn sound design, got it 👌🏼
Second Lesson + Livestream Time tomorrow
Hey guys finishing up the second lesson tomorrow morning, it's about bass lines & bass sound selection and how to use them to level up your production. It's super dope, apologize for the wait, but it'll be worth it. Also since we have two active people right now, let me know what time works best for the livestream. Tomorrow around 2pm mst is good for me or I could do sunday morning, around 8-10am MST. Just let me know what works best!
