The right equipment makes a difference
My first half an hour messing around with stainless didn't go too well. Poor gas coverage was my guess. I was using the only cup that came with my torch, a 6. So I ordered the furick kit that was recommended and my first arc was already a decent improvement!

Thanks! I'll try some different joints tomorrow. I was trying to let it cool down between passes. These were with .045. I tried 1/16 after these to see if more filler would fix some of the concavity I was having.

I have a Lincoln 180i that I try to practice with pretty frequently. It's been OK to learn on so far, though it would be nice to know what actual amps I'm running instead of a lettered setting.

Favorite metal to weld?
What is your favorite metal to weld? Why? I honestly couldn’t decide between stainless aluminum and titanium!

My welder won't do AC, so I have only done aluminum mig, but I like it so far.
Hello!
I am here to progress my skillset for hobby, side business as well as my career. I have been in non-destructive testing for quite a while inspecting welds and piping. I have only mig welded mild steel for a few different projects, but I'm now trying to get into some stainless and aluminum. Here are some pics of my current projects.
