Why my opponents keep resigning ? 😭😭🥀🥀

Next goal is to reach 1500.
Hello everyone. How's it going? Recently reached 1400 on Rapid (chess.com). My next goal is to reach 1500 and participate in the OTB tournament (U1800) for the second time. That's why I've started solving as many puzzles as I can. At the same time, I'm planning to start reading Mihail Marin's book to prepare for the opening. I'm open to any advice or ideas from the experienced players here.

How to check your opponents opening repertoire?
I have a tournament soon, but how do you check what openings your opponents (soon to face) play and how to check their main weakness ans strengths can someone tell me how to access these information?

Is this a Fide rated? Or USCF? When I played in one last year, I focused on mostly playing what I was comfortable. Every game I played (4 game tournament) the London was played.
