Exciting news
I know I have not been present lately and it may be a bit before I can be so again. Some of you follow me on Facebook, so this will not be news-worthy for you... I finished updating my business plan for the 3rd time this month. Why would I do that? I mean, the redo I did in April was fantastic, right? It was. But... I changed my priorities just a tad after my last grant review. Then, Skip created an AI with real time feedback on the changes just in time for their newest biz plan focused grant: https://d.helloskip.com/UjtZ When I first asked the AI for feedback, I got a 7/10, which is considered "Good". After A LOT of tweaking, I now have a 10/10 score! My husband says I can stop now. I do have plenty else to perfect... lol And, I'm having fun creating videos. I seem to be doing something right... we have 3k TikTok followers now! Not all of the videos are doing well, but that is to be expected. I created this one today as an invitation to join my new membership site. My husband says I sound cheerful. 🙂 I would really love it if someone here has the time to create a free profile, take a look around and give a review. But, I know we are all super busy at the moment and I still have a lot of work to put in! Anyway, I'm super excited to have a place to share my wins! Thank you!

@Diana Kelley I thought I saw a post from you mentioning grants available to organizations that aren’t 501(c)(3)s. Any chance you could point me to that info or share a link? I’d love to read through it when you have a moment. Thanks so much!
Insurance question- again!
Hi everyone, especially those of you in the US: I’m happy to say that I feel that I almost feel ready to experiment with the first equine, assisted learning/coaching/service session!!! I can’t believe I’m even saying that!!! The therapeutic riding center where I volunteer is interested in expanding our program so I have access to facilities and horses. Now I’m stuck with the insurance question and getting mixed messages 😖 I am an ICF certified coach and have professional liability insurance through Westminster, which is affiliated with the international coaching Federation, so a reputable provider. I called to ask what I needed to do to start offering services including horses. They said I only need to add a general liability policy, which I did. But then another person who is already in the horse industry told me that is wrong and I need a specific policy to cover working with horses. She is an instructor and trainer. She goes to peoples houses to work with their horses. Maybe that’s the difference? I don’t know who to believe and who to trust!!! I would work as an independent contractor with a business registered as a coach and consultant in the state of Vermont. (I already checked that I’m not required to change my business registration to work with horses.) I would lease the arena and the horse at a PATH accredited center that I know has their own liability insurance, but that doesn’t matter for me as a contractor. Can anyone please help me figure this out? I am not a risk taker and really want to have a straight answer before doing anything. Thanks!!! Alex

Hi @Alex Arnold were you able to get everything sorted out for yourself?
PATH certification question
Hi again, There is another question. The past certified therapeutic center I am volunteering at is interested in this expanding their programs to mental health and learning services. If they get a grant, they are willing to pay for me to take the PATH equine specialist in mental health and learning certification! This means that I could team up with a “ mental health professional, or educator” to offer sessions. The path website doesn’t give detail details about what they mean by mental health professional or educator and they haven’t responded to my email. Does anyone know the answer? If you know anything else about this certification, I’d love to connect. Thanks, Alex

Just for fun Memories
Blooper Tales from the Barn: I'll Go First... I’ve got my niece with me this month staying to lean and help me. I was born into horse life and already moving with that quiet, gritty confidence that only comes from years of hay-scented wisdom. We do things as second nature that can look downright alien to the uninitiated. So I’ve been thinking... Quick poll: does anyone remember their first barn blooper? That one glorious mess-up that taught you humility, hard lessons, and maybe a little something about hose pressure? Here’s mine. I was seven, eager to impress my mom—a barn neat freak of royal proportions. We’d stripped every stall and were in full cleaning mode, armed with Jeyes Fluid and a hose. I followed instructions (mostly). Then I got bold. Enthusiastic. Overachieving. I thought, “Why stop at stalls? Let’s go deluxe!” So I marched into the feed room like a tiny tornado and gave everything a good drenching. Trouble was, back then all our feed was stored in hessian sacks. Hessian. The fabric of dreams... and total disasters when mixed with disinfectant and water. Every. Single. Sack. Ruined. Mom was speechless. I was drenched in regret and Jeyes. And the feed room? Well, it smelled divine, but horses don’t eat aromatherapy. Moral of the story: Initiative is great. Instructions are better. And sometimes the best cleaning is... knowing when not to clean. Your turn. What was your glorious mess-up? Remind me of Brene Brown "What Does paint Done" look like to you?

Tagging off hump day...
@Health Coach Heather @Christina Beaubien @Delena Austin Lately I’ve been thinking about equestrians—our lives are a beautiful whirlwind of hoofbeats and hay bales, and somehow, we’re still trying to keep the house as clean as the barn. (Honestly, the barn's winning.) Every day feels like a juggling act: barn chores, keeping a dog from redecorating the living room with mud, trying to make a dinner everyone likes—even though there's always one who suddenly hates pasta this week. So how do we find time for the extras—those classes, courses, or catch-up reading that nourish us but never shout as loud as the laundry? For me, it starts with delegation. I’ve got a fleet of robot vacuums that spring into action the moment I walk out to the barn. They’re the unsung heroes, scrubbing away the chaos while I wrangle hay and humans. Living ten paces from the first stable means a lot gets dragged inside... though if you're also an equestrian, you totally get it. I swear by Audible. Whether I’m mucking stalls or on the road, I sneak in a chapter or two. Lately, I’ve started blocking out ‘Lesson Time’ on my calendar—a sacred hour to do something that matters to me. No guilt, just growth. So I’m curious—what’s in your toolkit? Whether it’s hacks, humor, or holy grail habits, I’d love to hear what keeps you riding the whirlwind without losing your reins.😁

Love this. What a great snapshot. Burnout is real—and the hardest part is not knowing you're in it until it’s too late. As a lifelong people pleaser, I’ve found that saying “no” feels like a betrayal at first. But over time, I’ve learned it’s actually an act of love. My family doesn’t want a half-present wife, mom, sister, or aunt—they want the whole me, rested and real. Yes, my to-do list is long. But here’s a little trick that’s working for me right now: My week ahead. I keep a “needs-to-be-done” list and update it every two days. What felt urgent yesterday might not be so tomorrow. I adjust based on my energy and the week ahead. It’s simple, but it’s shifted everything—I no longer feel like I’m failing when something moves down the list. Let’s be honest: the horse world doesn’t run on tight schedules. So why do we expect ourselves to? We don’t have to be Superwoman every single day. Giving ourselves that grace nourishes mind, body, and soul.

@Health Coach Heather That's great that you got to get away for a short time. Bruce and I were discussing taking small weekend breaks and trying to arrange staff for a week to cover what we do as a couple takes an army. I think we'll also feel more recharged, and it won't have to cost a fortune to do it. Well, only be a couple of hours, in case an emergency arises.
