As I've been working on my book this week, one practice that has been pivotal with the structure is getting clear about what the core promise of the book is (non-fiction - to clarify). What's a core promise? The value you want the book to deliver to the reader. It's not the topic - but what you want your book to DO for the reader. The transformation. I'm finding that having the core promise is becoming a compass as I write, to keep me on track vs meandering off into the writing wilderness! I've been quiet here for some time now. 24 days to be exact. Mortifying. But just keeping it honest. Family. Work. Studies. Unexpected happenings....in other words - "life" has temporarily disrupted being present to see THIS dream become a reality. But the dream is still alive. Oh dear. And a scary commitment that has popped into my mind as I type this post. Scary only because the month ahead is just as full as the last. A commitment to write a chapter each week. I just don't want ANOTHER year to go by with this book inside of me yet again, not seeing the light of day. So - let's check in. Has "life" been keeping you away from writing as it has been for me? Or - have you locked in a process or method to still get writing done despite what time commitments come your way?

I've got a HEAP of content for my book that I've been chipping away at. Chapters in various stages of iteration. Research in various stages of compilation. All captured in the online tool I use, Notion. Here's the thing though that I give all credit to Holy Spirit for nudging me with. (There's nothing like the 1hr drive home from the office for thinking time). Until I sit down at my laptop to work on it - I don't "see" it. If I saw it, for example, in printed form on my desk - I'd pick it up and read through it, make some notes etc. In other words - make progress with it but just in a different way BECAUSE I know that I am very tactile. Highlighters. Fluro coloured flags. Stickers. You get the idea. So - in the morning I'm printing a hard-copy of what I've got so far, and putting it on my desk. And of course, I won't be able to help myself. I'll sit down and read through it - which will show me where my gaps are - and what I need to work on next. I came across this post from Mallory Dagher and wow - it resonated with me. I wanted to share it here with you also as I expect it will speak to those of us who have not finished what we started writing. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ In her post, this is what she wrote: "I don’t think we talk enough about how heavy writing can feel sometimes.
