🐾 Hold up... we're buying our PETS perfume now?! 🤯
Y'all, I just fell down a rabbit hole reading Chewy's 2025 Pet Trend Report and I'm SHOOK. Apparently Dolce & Gabbana just launched a dog perfume called Fefé. A. DOG. PERFUME. From D&G. Let that sink in. 😂 But wait, it gets better (or more ridiculous, you decide): 🎂 Pet birthday parties are now COMPETING with kids' parties - Gen Z is out here throwing full productions for Fluffy's 3rd birthday 👔 Your dog has a better wardrobe than you - Matching owner/pet outfits are UP 110% on Google searches. We're literally twinning with our pets now. 💊 The supplement game is REAL - People are spending $2.5 BILLION on pet supplements. Fish oil for cats? Up 140%. Your cat is living healthier than most humans I know. 📸 Pets in wedding photos? Check. Prom dates? Yup. Graduation pics? Absolutely. At this point, your dog probably has a better social life than you do. Here's my favorite part: Birthday hats were Chewy's TOP-SELLING apparel item in 2024 We're literally putting tiny party hats on our pets and I'm 100% here for it. 🎉 Real talk though: Is this peak pet parent culture or are we just getting started? Drop a 🐶 if your pet is living their best life or a 😅 if you're guilty of ANY of these trends! What's the most extra thing you've done for your pet? Spill the tea in the comments! ☕👇

🐕 Which Dog Breeds Are the Healthiest (And Which Struggle the Most)?
Hey everyone! I've been seeing this question EVERYWHERE on Google lately, so I wanted to address it here. If you're thinking about getting a new dog—or you already have one and want to understand what health challenges might be coming—this post is for you. 🐶 Let's break down which breeds tend to have the most health issues and which are known for being naturally healthier. 🎉 Spoiler: Your breed doesn't determine your dog's destiny. But it helps to know what to watch for. ❌ BREEDS WITH THE MOST HEALTH ISSUES: 🫣 These breeds are prone to multiple genetic health problems due to selective breeding practices: 1. English Bulldog - Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breathing issues - Hip dysplasia - Skin fold infections - Heart problems - Overheating risks ✅ Why: Extreme physical traits bred for appearance over function. 2. French Bulldog - Respiratory issues (collapsed airways) - Spinal problems - Eye issues (cherry eye, corneal ulcers) - Skin allergies - Heat intolerance ✅ Why: Same flat-face breeding issues as English Bulldogs. 3. German Shepherd - Hip and elbow dysplasia - Degenerative myelopathy (spinal cord disease) - Bloat (gastric torsion) - Allergies and skin issues Why: Overbreeding and poor breeding practices have weakened the gene pool. 4. Golden Retriever - Cancer (60% will develop cancer in their lifetime) - Hip dysplasia - Heart disease - Skin allergies - Ear infections ✅ Why: Unfortunately, one of the highest cancer rates of any breed. 5. Dachshund - Intervertebral disc disease (back problems) - Obesity-related issues - Dental problems - Epilepsy ✅ Why: Long spine, short legs = major structural stress. 6. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - Heart disease (mitral valve disease) - Syringomyelia (neurological condition) - Hip dysplasia - Eye problems ✅ Why: Small gene pool and widespread inbreeding. 7. Pug - Breathing issues (brachycephalic syndrome) - Eye injuries (protruding eyes) - Hip dysplasia - Obesity - Skin fold infections

I have had five Akita with very few health issues. We did have one who had severe hip dysplasia from the time she was a puppy, she also bloated (which Akitas are prone to) at the age of four but we got her to the vet quickly. She lived to 11.5. The other four never had any major issues.
⚠️ The Ingredient Mistake 90% of Dog Parents Make (And How to Avoid It)
Hey everyone! Last time we talked gut health. Today, let's tackle something that trips up almost EVERY dog parent... Reading ingredient labels wrong. You think you're buying quality. But you're actually getting fillers, by-products, and junk disguised as "premium." Let me show you what to look for (and avoid). 🚨 Red Flags on ANY Dog Food or Supplement Label: 1. "Meat By-Products"Translation: Beaks, feet, feathers, organs not fit for human consumption. Cheap protein that offers minimal nutrition. 2. "Meal" (Chicken Meal, Beef Meal)Not always bad, but it's rendered and heavily processed. Quality varies wildly between brands. 3. Corn, Wheat, Soy as Top IngredientsThese are cheap fillers. They spike blood sugar, cause inflammation, and offer little nutritional value. 4. Artificial Colors (Blue 2, Red 40, Yellow 5)Your dog doesn't care what color their food is. These are for YOU, not them—and they're linked to health issues. 5. Preservatives (BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin)Chemical preservatives linked to cancer and organ damage. Natural preservatives (Vitamin E, rosemary extract) are safer. 6. Vague Terms Like "Animal Fat" or "Poultry"What animal? What poultry? If they won't tell you, it's probably garbage. ✅ What You SHOULD See Instead: ✓ Named meat sources (Chicken, Beef, Salmon—not "meat")✓ Human-grade ingredients (same quality you'd eat)✓ Whole foods (sweet potato, blueberries, spinach)✓ Natural preservatives (Vitamin E, mixed tocopherols)✓ No artificial colors or flavors✓ Short ingredient list (if you need a chemistry degree to read it, skip it) 💡 Pro Tip: Ingredients are listed by weight. The first 5 ingredients make up the BULK of what's inside. If the first ingredient is corn? You're feeding your dog corn, not nutrition. 🎯 The Bottom Line: Whether it's food OR supplements—quality ingredients = quality health. You can't out-supplement a terrible diet. And you can't expect results from products filled with fillers and junk. Start reading labels like a detective. Your dog's health depends on it.

Cash is a member of the Dog Aging Project https://dogagingproject.org/ and their Precision Cohort. When we did the bloodwork in August we discovered that his triglycerides were extremely high. So with the help of his vet we are closely monitoring the condition and he is one a very low-fat diet.

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is enjoying some time off full of cuddles from our "furry" friends! This weekend we were honored to be invited to be a part of the 15th Annual Franklin Friends Howloween Parade that raises money for shelters across the country! I am sharing a pic of our booth, but stay tuned...I have some hilarious and heart-warming photos of all the "pups" that were able to shine in their Howloween costumes! I also secured an "AMAZING" connection for us! I will explain in a follow-up" post later today or tomorrow morning. Briefly...I wanted to have a resource for our members where we can call 24hrs/7days-week to a team of licensed Vets where we can get crucial and timely health and "emergency" questions answered when we need it most. I am working on a special connection to "veg.com" for our members, so hang on for a day or so, I will explain further early this week! Totally FREE!
