Advertisement and ideas
Hi everyone! I'm Angela and I wanted to know youre creative ideas. I have stickers and putting them on walls (Allowed around certain NYC is allowed) foldable/popup business cards, social media and more but again what are some of your ideas? What kind of advertisements do you do to capture people attention. Due to Digital/graphics background i have a few i personally make and it doesnt gove the attraction im looking for to bring more people in.

Hey Angeline — with a graphics background you're already ahead of most people on this. The honest truth though: in specialty coffee, the best marketing is usually just getting people through the door once and giving them a reason to come back and tell someone. Stickers and cards are fine but they're low-conversion. What tends to actually work is hyper-local stuff — collaborating with a nearby business, showing up at a neighbourhood event, or getting a regular to post genuinely. What does your current foot traffic look like day-to-day?

Hello I’m planning to open a coffee shop in Waterloo station in London I hope I can get more information and tips from here☺️

Welcome Ian — Waterloo Station is a high-footfall location but it comes with its own set of challenges, mainly around landlord dynamics. Network Rail and major station operators typically run competitive tender processes for retail units, so understanding their requirements early is key. Rents can look attractive per sq ft but the service charges and turnover-based rent clauses often catch people off guard. Once you've got a clearer picture on availability, it's worth stress-testing your numbers properly — what stage are you at with your business plan?
Introduction
👋 Hi everyone, I’m Syed from Esquires Coffee, County Mall, Crawley (UK). I’ve been a gas and heating engineer for over 20 years, but recently fulfilled a long-held ambition of owning a coffee shop. Running a café has been one of the biggest learning experiences of my life! I’m passionate about building a genuine community hub where people feel welcome, and I’m always looking for ways to improve marketing, increase footfall, streamline operations and create a better customer experience. I’m here to learn from those who’ve been there before, share my own experiences, and hopefully help others where I can. If you’re ever in Crawley, please come in and say hello—I’d love to meet fellow coffee shop owners over a coffee. ☕😊

@Cassandra Drakeford Welcome, Cassandra! North Carolina has some solid coffee scenes developing, so good timing to be thinking about this. The vision you're describing — an intimate, community-focused spot — is actually one of the more viable concepts when it's executed well, but it lives or dies on the details underneath it. What does your current situation look like: are you still in early research mode, or do you have a location, budget, or timeline you're working toward? That'll help me point you toward the right starting place here.

@Joshua Davis Welcome Josh. Dreams are a good starting point, but the sooner you get specific the better — this community will help with that. Where are you at right now: still in early research mode, or do you have a location, concept, or timeline starting to take shape? The more context you share here, the more useful the feedback you'll get from the group.
