Just a bit of fun ๐Ÿ˜‰ If your craft style had a villain origin story, what would it be? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Lace using Brother Kh260 chunky
I fancy making a chunky jumper or cardigan with some lace stitches to give it a bit of a pattern - has anyone ever used a lace punchcard to select the needles and then manually manipulated the needles to make the transfers/ holes?

I think that's right...

@Jan Appleton but there won't be as many stitches to transfer as on the 880... You wouldn't believe what I've got on top of my poor machine - visa renewal paperwork, and French tax return paperwork lol ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Perhaps I'll try and tidy it all away when the pups are in bed tomorrow morning ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป
Technical Question About Lace Knitting
โ“What am I doing wrong? Iโ€™m working on a Brother KH-910 knitting machine using a foil pattern for a lace pattern. The machine knits the initial stitches perfectly until I program in the pattern. The foil runs to the start of the pattern, and I knit 2 rows with the knitting carriage. That works without any problems, but then the lace pattern carriage follows, and the foil doesnโ€™t move any further. It selects the correct needles, but the foil doesnโ€™t advance any rows. However, the foil feed is working; otherwise, it wouldnโ€™t pull the foil in. I also make sure to press the RR button before starting, so that the pattern is set to the beginning. But the problem persists. Does anyone have any advice? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

@Jan Appleton I have my kh880 with no ribber set up downstairs, I'll try and get to it lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚, and I'll try and find the punchcards... Ha ha (you should see the workroom, it's all crammed in with all sorts of stuff ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ)
1st item you machine knitted
Can anyone remember the 1st item they machine knitted? I went straight in and knitted a jumper (pullover) and it was huge, full of mistakes lol... But I wore it anyway ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

@Jan Appleton I tend to knit plain tops nowadays , not fairisle, but I did knit a lacey sleeveless top a couple of years ago with manual manipulation which came out well, I think I used my LK150... I'll find some tops later and take photos. I did knit hubby a chunky jumper a year ago, and this was his first... He loved it but has only worn it a few times lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ I have machine knitted a couple of pairs of thick socks that he wears though... ๐Ÿ˜Š

@Jan Appleton will do. I may not be able to remember the yarn used or the tension dial etc...

General discussion
Hand knitters versus machine knitters โ€” ever had to defend yourself?โ–ผ
Hand knitters versus machine knitters โ€” ever had to defend yourself? If you've told a hand knitter you use a machine, you may have got The Look. The slight pause. The 'oh, so it does it for you?' comment. Machine knitting has an image problem in some circles and most of us have a story about navigating that assumption. The irony being that machine knitting has its own enormous skill curve that takes years to master. Tell us your best 'defending the machine' story โ€” and what you said that ended the conversation.

I took a cardigan I'd machine knitted to our French Thursday afternoon knitting/crochet /embroidery get together in our village to hand knit the ribbing, they were amazed how quickly I'd knitted the pieces... Nobody said I'd been cheating... Lol.. They were all very interested, saying how neat it was ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚ So I didn't have to defend it lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚
