I've just heard that my good friend and colleague Lady Val Corbett died in her sleep last night. For those that don't know, Lady Val was a force of nature - she started the Corbett Network in honour of her husband Lord Corbett who was a amazing advocate for prison reform. She has been gathering organisations that support prisoner rehabilitation ever since. She also ran a ladies' lunch once a quarter for professional women, and the profits all went towards the Corbett Network. I was honoured to be a volunteer helper at her events. Lady Val wrote a testimonial for my book Wing of an Angel and was a great supporter of Beyond Recovery, the social enterprise I ran for ten years. She also had Derrick and Omar as speakers at one of her events. Happy Birthday, dear Mama J ❤️ Today we’re celebrating not only the day you were born, but the incredible gift your life has been to so many of us. Thank you for seeing beyond people’s stories and reminding us of who we truly are. Your love, wisdom, humility, and unwavering faith have touched my life in ways that are difficult to put into words. You have been a guide, a teacher, a safe place, and, above all, a beautiful example of what it looks like to live from love. Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, and walking alongside me through so many moments of growth. So much of what I now share with others has been nourished by the love and understanding you’ve so generously shared with me. The world is a better place because you are in it. Oh my goodness that was AMAZING!! I still haven't come down from that wonderful event. @Rachel Harmsworth was my guest coachee and she was an absolute STAR ⭐ - naming the issues many in the audience shared (not wanting to talk to the camera, needing others to bring out the joy, stories about why we can do one thing and not the other) - she was honest and real, and a JOY to work with - she walked away with an insight and a next step Just goes to show how much can be achieved in 20 mins!! Also huge huge thank you to everyone who showed up and engaged and said wonderful things.
