coming down to chiang mai any advice for housing?
Hi guys, I’m heading to Chiang Mai for the first time as a nomad and was hoping to get some advice. For those who're there—any tips, best practices, or things to watch out for when it comes to finding a place to stay? I’ve been checking Airbnb and heard about FazWaz too, but would love to know if there are other options or platforms you’d recommend. Also, would it be smarter to land in Chiang Mai, stay for a week or so, and then find a place in person? Or better to lock something in before arriving? Appreciate any help in advance!

@John K. awesome, thanks! Seems counter intuitive not knowing where you'll stay before going but I guess that's just how thailand works. Booking my trip soon — thanks all!

@John K. sorry for the delayed response, went to Bali for awhile instead that time. But booking my trip to Chiang Mai this week Trip Details - Arriving between end sept and staying until Nov 5 (about 5-6 weeks). - My accommodation budget is ~12,000 THB/month, and daily living I’m estimating 600–800 THB/day for food, coffee, transport, etc. Accommodation Preferences - Must-haves: Reliable Wi-Fi (work is a priority this trip), air-con, and a decently comfortable desk setup, on-site laundry or washing machine - Nice-to-haves: Cleaning services, gym/pool in the building, and walking distance to cafes/restaurants. - Ideally near grocery stores and muay thai gym (10 min walk or 5min bike) Work Setup - I’ll mostly be working from the apartment, but I’d also like to mix it up with nearby cafes. Transportation - Depending on the location of where I'm at ideally walking is enough for day to day. But to travel out might get a scooter or grab bike. - Ideally want to be based in an area where most essentials are within walking distance (Nimman or Santitham as some have recommended here). Move-In Readiness Prefer a turnkey, fully furnished setup since I’m only staying ~5 weeks. I’d rather not worry about buying furniture or too many extras. Small things like toiletries or bedding are fine to sort out on arrival.
