Focus for the week (nature)
This week, get out and spend time in whatever is as close to the wilderness as you can get. Even if that just means standing on your balcony in the sunshine. Ocean would be better. Or forest. If you can’t find time this week then plan a camping trip. Those who lose touch with nature seem sad to me. We are solar panels and should absorb sunshine on as much of the surface of our bare skin as possible. Go out and get naked in the sun. ☀️

Focus for the week (breath)
This week try to start breathing audibly before you get tired. Make this your focus. If you get submitted because you’re focused on breathing, it’s ok. Let your attention be 75% on your breath and 25% on your partner. You will not do as well but you are practicing something that will pay off later. tchew tchew tchew tchew. Have a great week of training 👊

Weapons
A lone figure in all black with a hood approaches you in a dark alley. He stops 5 feet in front of you. You are unarmed and cornered. Which of these weapons feels the least dangerous to you? Against which weapons would you rather defend yourself.

I pick the dog. I am always armed but if I happen to not be carrying I keep bacon in my pocket for situations like this. You never know when you need to make a Cobb salad or win a fight with a dog.

Noon has always been ideal for me. I like to fast in the AM and go into a noon class hopped up on caffeine. Train for 2 hours, grab some sushi and nap. I prefer to teach the noon classes as well. That group of ppl are my ppl, they have either everything going right in their life or nothing going at all. The night time crew is always dudes charging hard from work and looking to take out their shitty day on someone or that might just be the justification I am using to avoid evening LA traffic.
