About 15 minutes prior to this, my toe got stepped on by a metal spike which were illegal for that league. I said REF he has metal cleats and he told me "SO". I said my toe nail just got ripped off. He told me "Mine didn't". I was on the sideline finding anything to stop the bleeding. I remember it was athletic tape, a lot of it. I put my sock on and cleat. Our safety at the time looked at me and said "Who are you?". I just smiled and said It hurts but I don't like to lose and I kinda want to punch that guy. A pick six for the Win was so much more satisfying. They knew I had a foot issue so I think they were trying to pick on me. I am also not that big for sports in general really. SO FUN!!!

I was never a super star only ever a local hero on different levels. High School was basketball in Alaska where I went for a summer to visit cousins and played on their local travel team. I hit 22 3's in one game between my 8th grade and freshman years. I broke my ankle day 3 and wore a size 14 my cousins shoe on one foot and my 11.5 on the other. 3 days I couldn't walk after that, I could just find a spot and when I got the ball I could drop a dime. Then High School was baseball and that's what I choose to do. Didn't play Basketball or Football in High School. Just focused on baseball. DUMB I wish I would have done it all. Then as an auto parts guy. When my wife first met me, we couldn't go anywhere in town without someone thanking me for getting their boat or car or whatever problem fixed. She asked are you a local celebrity? I said probably. I coached baseball for 13 years, you get to know a lot of parents kids and family. Also my family settled in my home town BEFORE it was an established town. Now I live a quiet life removed from so much of what I used to do. Always just enjoy what your doing even if your not the best at it. Last 2 years in softball I have hit more over the fence home runs that I have in my entire life prior. Good bat helps but just have fun. I also pitch and have excelled with 130 Strikeouts as a softball pitcher in one summer. 35 games including a 21 game streak with at least 2 strikeouts. Yes Softball throwing underhand, I don't understand it myself. I guess in a way I still "compete" through softball which I laugh at cause everyone takes it SOOOOO serious and it's a joke of real baseball. OK the end, I am getting down now. A lot of HARD work has gone into all this. Natural god given athletic nature helped. I have Spidey senses when it comes to playing sports.
