Dealing with Public Speaking Anxiety
Whats your biggest Public Speaking Fear?
We get caught up in the “what if” of public speaking and it leads to a ton of public speaking anxiety. None of the perceived outcomes are real but, you can’t help but go down the possibilities of things going bad. So, what is that fear? First 5 people to answer will get a free 30 min 1 on 1 session where we dive slightly deeper.

@Shenetria Perkins Appreciate you sharing Shenetria! I’ve dealt with that and have actually lost my train of thought in front of 120 people. When we do a 1 on 1, I can share what I did to recover and avoid that happening again.
Ways to Start Reversing the Fear of Speaking
This is going to be a quick but impactful message this evening. Take this and apply it immediately to speed up your speaking improvement journey. 1. Write down the origin of your fear of public speaking: it started somewhere. You need to go back to that moment, write down what happened, and address it in real time. 2. Write out what happens to you when you’re about to speak: what’s going on in your head, body, and emotions? 3. Plan your first small group practice session: find 2-3 friends or family to present something you know really well. Keep it tight. This is to practice speaking in front of people. 4. Use the 1-3-1 method to nail down your speech: Stay on topic, teach them something they didn’t know, and don’t over explain. I went through the embarrassment and hardship so you didn’t have to. Steal my homework and go through the steps I used myself to fix my speaking issues. Visit https://calmtoclear.com Comment any quest you may have and I’ll answer what I can.

Ways to Start Reversing the Fear of Speaking
She Had a Panic Attack While Speaking
Someone recently reached out about having a panic attack while speaking publicly and if you could ever come back from that. Here’s what I told her and something I think you should all consider: First, having a panic attack at any point is rough. Recovery from that should be prioritized. You may not want to go back to the way things were because that’s associated with trauma. Have you considered unpacking the history that got you there? A few questions to ask to help you unpack: 1. When did this start? (Think back to the earliest moment of this fear of public speaking. What happened? Who was involved? Why did it have such a lasting effect?) 2. What’s in my mind before I speak? (Week before? Day before? Moment before going on stage?) 3. What are your fears while performing? (People? Messing up? Sounding inadequate? Losing credibility?) 4. What do you do after it’s over (the speaking segment)? (Are you ruminating? If so, negatively or positively? Any second guessing? These questions can help you really get to the source of the problem, rather than treating surface level issues. Consider, using these and a diaphragmatic breathing approach to get your mind and body in sync and calm. The problem is psychological first, then physical second. I finished building a system to help recover psychologically from a bad public speaking history. It’s called the Calm to Clear Reset System. Check it out here: https://calmtoclear.com Hope this helps someone!

What’s on Your Mind Before you Speak?
When you have to do something you really don’t like doing, it can be difficult to conjure up the right amount of energy and authenticity. Why? Your body and mind are already looking for an escape. Speaking in front of people gets exponentially more difficult when you don’t want to do it. Our brains tell us things like… - They’re looking at you weird - You’re talking too long - They don’t care - They’re judging you and how you sound - They don’t believe you know what you’re talking about and aren’t listening We have to grapple our psychological history before we can dominate our actual present. 3 Questions to address your mind before you speak: 1. What bothers you the most about this speaking opportunity and why? 2. What’s most important to the people in the room? 3. In the end, what do I NEED them to remember? These questions will allow you to push your mind from the avoidance based space to the service mentality (which makes the task about your audience and NOT you). Let me know if this helps in any way 😊
