🏆 GPCU MOMENTUM AWARD 🏆
Today we’re recognizing Nathan “Natrix” Ricks with the GPCU Momentum Award. @Nathan Ricks This award isn’t about being first — it’s about showing up, adding value, and keeping the energy moving forward. Natrix has been consistently present in the community, contributing, engaging, and helping set the tone. That kind of momentum matters here. This is what we reward at GPCU: Consistency. Participation. Forward motion. More recognitions are coming. Keep showing up. — Damien “Dammo” Farmer Founder, GPCU 👏🏾 Drop a comment and show Natrix some love.

It’s Monday! Let’s Goooooo 🚀
Imagine getting that one big call… Your dream gig. Your moment. Your win. But then years go by… and you never get another call. That’s what happens when you depend on luck instead of building a system. GPCU is the system. We teach you how to keep getting called — not just once, but over and over. You’re in the right place. Stay tapped in. 💪🏾🔥 #GPCU

What’s up Good People! Hope everyone is well. I want to ask y’all something: Did anybody see that post Robert Glasper made about musicians and singers over-doing it? What’s your thoughts on it? Personally, I loved it. It was real and it was good advice. If you’re a working musician, let’s be honest: Chops, chops, chops — how has that really worked out for you? Did having chops get you the gig you wanted? Or help you keep the gig? I love chops. I love when somebody can pull from the bag. But a lot of musicians don’t know how to use their chops in context. Most musicians overplay. Wrong time. Wrong space. Wrong moment. Let me ask this too: Do you think chops actually matter on a gig? And if they do matter — what type of gig are we talking about? What type of musician are you striving to be? Should your chops reflect that goal? Or should your chops reflect what the music needs in the moment? Let’s talk about it. Sound off below. I want to hear your real thoughts. I attached the video for anyone who hasn’t seen the Robert Glasper clip.

I personally agree! I love chops we all do and there is nothing wrong with having the ability to expand and create sonically, BUT discipline and respect to the music is what gets the gig. I’ve had personal experience in my earlier years where I played everything that I’d learn in my shed time on a gig or a rehearsal and the only person being satisfied by that was ME. Our job is to serve the music NOT ourselves! A lot of the stuff we are able to play goes over the listeners head, but what remains to them is the feel and the intent in the music that was recorded. What gets the gig from my experience has been not just attention to detail but the respect for that piece and how it was written. 🤘🏾🙏🏾
