Hi everyone
Iโ€™m wondering if the 4th class ticket for Baffin Island can be challenged. I have 26 years experience with commercial low and high pressure systems and have an opportunity there . Iโ€™m in Newfoundland Canada

Hello @Dave Cunningham, while I do not have experience with Nunavut, I believe that other territories use ABSA as their certification regulator. If you can gather any info from your potential employer regarding the certification requirements, I can certainly help to guide your next steps.

@Dave Cunningham, Each province has their own applications and documentation requirements. Here is the link to the NL power engineering applications: https://www.gov.nl.ca/atcd/cert-powengblaster/power-engineer/ I recommend reaching out to James Brake, Power Engineering Program Development Officer for NewfoundLand and Labrador for more information. (709) 637-2333 or jamesbrake@gov.nl.ca.

Hello Mahmood, While pursuing a college course and co-op placement may benefit your career advancement if you are guaranteed a position. Some colleges only have room for some students to attend a co-op placement. Be sure to check on this as you progress. Otherwise, applying to as many positions as possible with your 4th class is a good start. You may have to start in a position that is entry level, but within 1-2 years, you should be able to complete your 3rd class exams and build enough experience to transfer to a position that matches your goals. Feel free to check out employment opportunities available: https://powerengineering101.com/power-engineering-jobs/ Let us know if you have any questions.
1B1 exam

Hello Nath, 1B1 is one of the toughest 1st class exams, but building comfort in navigating the code books will provide you with a huge advantage. Most jurisdictions allow you to add page markers and highlighting to your code books, helping you navigate to commonly referenced material (check with your examiner/jurisdiction beforehand). PE101 offers a 1B1 course that will help you navigate each of your code books one at a time to ensure you know where to go to find the content referenced in our practice questions.
Why so quiet?!
Hello! I"m currently working on my 2nd, but only have a couple of exams left. Does anyone have any advice for the 1st Class exams? I imagine they are more challenging, but in what way? How much is review and what exams should I tackle first? Well, I plan on going applied mechanics, while uts still fresh in my mind, but after that, which one should I do? Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Hey Hugh, I have not personally written any 1st class exams, but from my understanding the big difference from 2nd to 1st class is the perspective shift from operations (2nd class) to management (1st class). The other major difference is the format/delivery of the exams, as 1st class is still written (1B4 being changed to MC this January). It's a wise move to tackle the content that is fresh in your mind, as this will help to knock off the most challenging of content toward your 1st class as well. Here is a link to Robbie's proposed exam progression for you to review: https://powerengineering101.com/the-easiest-order-to-write-your-power-engineering-exams/ I'm sure other community members may have valuable input here as well, but I am happy to offer my opinions as your progress.

Chrome tends to work well, although all browsers should work just fine!
