Submissions from guard
Sup everyone, got a question bout submissions. I do sambo and when I spar and I end up on top and the opponent is in guard and he blocks me with his legs, specificely wraps them around my waist, what are effective submissions to do in this position, except ankle or heel hook

I mean the easiest option would to punch your way out of but if you’re struggling on closed guard you have to learn how to pass bro a way I thought about it that helped was to worry about one thing at a time like if I’m in a bad position get out of it and now that ur not in a bad position think ab how you can get them in a bad position once you’ve done that the keep them in a bad position where you can finally sub
Guys, how do I beat him?
I'm wearing a black uniform and helmet. He is one of the strongest young men in our gym, he has been practicing MMA for many years. In this sparring, I was only defending myself, because he works as a counterpuncher and he responds to every attack I make with a series. I want to interrupt him with my hands, when I use my legs it's much easier for me because I can control the distance better and interrupt his lunges with front kicks. In the end, I tried to counterattack too, but he easily defended himself from everything. the wrestling option disappears immediately, because his grappling and takedown protection are much better.

From what I saw what you were throwing wasn’t wrong but what I would recommend getting good at pumping out that jab at him and once you see his reactions time a counter like a calf kick while all his weight is leaning to slip or a hook or cross all depending on his reaction due to him being a counter fighter and I would recommend you stay close to out of range so you can pick and see your counter a lot better , but always keep in mind your exit after a attack

The technique was great some things I would recommend is first and foremost how high u chin is in the air tuck it so their punches glance off your forehead instead of spin your chin makes receiving punishment a lot less worse. Another thing is your lack bounce/movement the lighter you are on your feet the easier it is get in and get out without getting hit and if you combine that with tightening your guard and keeping that right by your face I think you would a much easier time defending after going on the offensive
