Hello fam, today I made a second batch!
Today I made a second batch of biochar also noticed in my worm farm they are reproducing like crazy my hotel of love worm farm seems to be really progressing now . Next is more bins, worms, biochar, soil! Fun fact biochar is super absorbent to PFAS compounds ( forever chemicals) like the non stick coatings on pots and pans plus a laundry list of household products we don’t think about.

At first I started in my composting barrel. I bought somebody’s homemade composting system ( 55 gallon plastic blue barrel). Laid on wood frame with 4 wheels to catch the barrel so it can be rotated. Problem with the way it was built did not have enough wheels for the weight so I didn’t turn it all summer long I fed it scraps green and brown kept watering it for most of the summer it didn’t smell but I could see steam in the mornings. At the time I didn’t have any testing kits or thermometer for soil. All beginning of summer I took my son fishing we had left over worms so he was not interested in fishing anymore and we dumped the worms into the barrel. Few weeks later I went to turn the barrel with a shovel, and found many worms thriving my night crawlers had grown bigger fatter. So I ordered a kit from Amazon my first official worm farm by Vivosun. It was an decently made no major flaws that I could see I set it up I then got some coco noir and pit moss mixed it with my positively charged biochar and soil I pulled from a dead plant that got too much sun. I mixed and watered ordered my 1000 worms and added them to the worm farm. The kit came with a thermometer which I used still use once a week checking ph levels moisture and light. I fed them scraps from prepping dinners( vegetables ) also bought a mortise and pestle for grinding up egg shells and separately used coffee grounds. I feed about every 2-3 weeks checking levels 1 a week. I have noticed since may I have gone through 2 breeding cycles and have 3-4 thousand worms. Now I am gearing up to get more bins for more worms. I live in Idaho so it’s going to get cold this winter I have a plan for a heater to put next to them in the garage using terra cotta pots and candles made from crayons my kids don’t uses anymore. Next crazy thing I do ? Who knows ? 😊. I get strange ideas and build plans for things all the time then I test them out and the things that don’t work I change and evolve into better solutions. Well thank you for the question. My apologies for writing a book.🤭🤪. I will be rotating my worm farm levels in the next couple of days I will send pics and also my compost barrel.🤣 bless have a good night!

I’m using a metal trash can 😊 I put holes in the lid for gasses and moisture’s to escape. Last year I was using citronella candle cans with metal lid and those cans created enough for my whole garden that supported my family with food and herbs all summer long.
