AUDIO VISIONS - Your 70s Alter Ego
Internal Rhythm Presents AUDIO VISIONS - Mini Music Project Prompt — Your 70s Alter Ego Today’s challenge: Create a beat or full song inspired by your 1970s alter ego. Imagine your 1970s alter ego character walking into a disco club, roller rink, smoky bar, underground dance floor, or neon-lit house party somewhere in the 70s. What does their soundtrack sound like? Let’s build a track that captures that exact energy. Step 1 Create your Alter Ego Think about: • Is your alter ego glamorous, rebellious, mysterious, chaotic, smooth, seductive, heartbroken, funky, dreamy, or unstoppable? • What instruments follow them into the room? • What tempo matches their walk? • What colors would their music feel like? Step 2 Write the soundtrack for your Alter Ego Start a new project in logic or ableton Set your bpm Choose your style (disco, funk, rock n roll) Add a kick Add a snare Add in a set of hi hats Add a bass Add a guitar Optional: Add an analog synthesizer Optional: Add a fuzz guitar Add in a 70s inspired vocal Alternatively You could also choose to sample a 1970s track and just remix into a beat you’d hear today Production Ideas to experiment with: - Funk basslines - Disco drums - Vintage synths - Soul samples - Tape saturation - Wah guitars - Retro vocal chops - Analog textures - Vinyl crackle• - Big dramatic reverbs - Glittery synth pads Vocal ideas - Think vocals like Donna Summer, I feel love - Think vocals like Stevie Nicks, Dreams - Think vocals like Elton John, Tiny Dancer - Think vocals like Le Freak, Chic - Think vocals like ABBA, Dancing Queen - Think vocals like Gloria Gaynor, I Will Survive Your beat could sound like: - a roller rink anthem - a late-night city drive - heartbreak on the dance floor - a funky movie soundtrack - a smoky underground disco set Bonus: Create cover art for the track Or Use the Ai Prompt in the comments with your Skool Profile picture to create an image of your alter ego (do this on a free Ai generator. ChatGPT is fine)

Wanted to take a sec on Mother’s Day to acknowledge our newest members @Salters Davis and @Ezekiel Bamidele. Feel free to share something about yourselves. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. What’s everyone working on musically? Any new mixes or productions in the works? Last night I DJed a prom on a boat. It was fun group but a VERY long day. Enjoying a peaceful day with @Nikki J .

@Salters Davis happy to have you. Planning on getting some more videos up ASAP. Definitely check out the logic walkthrough I recently did. Even if you know logic , I bet you might learn a few things. Here’s a quick key cheet sheet I put together. The video covers some of these plus some more I use everyday!
Are You Stuck in a Loop???
CAN’T FINISH TRACKS? START BACKWARDS. Start with the PEAK. Not the intro. Not the build. The moment everything HITS. Stack it. All the drums. All the layers. All the ENERGY. Make it KNOCK. Then— go BACK. Mute. Strip. Create SPACE. That’s your intro. Your verses. Your breakdown. Not built— REVEALED. Most producers get stuck building up. This flips it. You already know the DESTINATION. Now shape the journey. This is a core shift inside OUR INTERNAL RHYTHM DJ & PRODUCER HUB by JOHNNY & NIKKI. Not just how to use Logic— but how to FINISH MUSIC. If you’re stuck in loops… this is for you.
