Inquiry: Building a Wardrobe and Weight Loss
Hey guys. Does anyone know of a resource where I can learn all the ways a tailor can alter clothing? My thoughts are if I can understand that, I can know ow which pieces to buy and understand how that piece will be affected by the weight loss. For example, pants seem pretty simple, They just bring the waist in. And I imagine that there could be a line of demarcation where so many inches off the waist can make the rest of the pants look silly. Correct me if I am wrong on that. But the big question mark for me is shirts. Are dress shirts safer to buy and alter as you lose, and polos just replace as they get too big? Ive seem the dress shirts polos at collar & Co, can those be altered?

Grateful for my community and style
It has been great helping my neighborhood setting up for annual night out and school supplies drive. Better yet is that I did it in style.

Is black always formal?
Good morning gentlemen, So we all hear that black is basically for formal wear, yet we see people wearing black all the time most women and men think that black makes them look slimmer. But when it comes to men’s suits we tend to think that black suits should only be worn at night and for formal wear. I tend to disagree, I think that if you take a black suit and pair it with a color shirt or tie, and a pocket square it does not have to be formal. I took this black suit with a light blue shirt, the tie has black and some light blue in it, and pocket square to bring it all together throw in a pair of black monogram cuff links, and black suspenders (braces). Now you can wear like a red color shirt, lavender, and some other colors with ties, and pocket to make it less formal. Should a man have a black suit in his wardrobe? Absolutely, can he use it for non formal especially if he does not have many suits in his wardrobe to help add to his wear? I believe so. I know men that have black suits that maybe wear once a year because of this mindset. But you can work this into you wardrobe and add more to your daily wear. This is my opinion. And by the way I have received several comments wearing this and actually has a photographer ask tif she could take my picture for her freelance magazine.

I think there are rules, but also how you own the outfit can throw those out the window so to speak. Like if you feel good in it, then that comes through in how people perceive you. Looking good!
Introduce Yourself (ALL Intros HERE Please!)
OK, so by introducing yourself you are guaranteed to get to level 2 - it's really that easy and I LOVE learning more about the cool people in this group. Feel free to share where you're from, why you're here, what you do for a living, and what you like about style. Are you a watch guy, suit guy, fragrance guy, or maybe just getting started? Have fun here!

Hey guys! I’m Johnathan Wisecarver. I’m an engineer in the pharmaceutical industry. I’m here to learn about style and how to build an interchangeable wardrobe. I grew up in a more rural area where the most dressed up people were guys with Abercrombie polos. When I went to college at the university of Cincinnati and subsequently Greek life, I was blown away by all the blazers and whole new world of style. The big motivator for me coming to this community is my body type has resulted in a lot of difficulties finding the right fit. I have been lifting for 15 years and have large arms and shoulders. When I went to get a suit at men’s warehouse I didn’t “like the way I looked” and respectfully brought up my concerns with the salesman to which he replied “that’s just how suits look on big guys”. I figured if they can make suits look good on the rock who is larger than me then I can sure as heck find clothes that fit me. I just bought me a fabric tape measure to get my measurements. I plan on learning more here so I can make intentional decisions about my style and take pride in my appearance.
