This world tells us to hustle and grind all the time. And if we don't hustle like they think we should, we are called lazy. While there are times where hard work is necessary, it is important for us to rest. Spending time with God in worship, prayer, journaling, personal Bible study gives us a place to rest. God's promise is that in His presence, we can find rest. Rest is not only physical, but it is spiritual and mental peace. So, let us slow down and be present with the Lord.

Let us always be generous with what God has blessed us with. This is not only pertaining to money. But we are to be generous with our time, talent, prayers, encouragement, love, and anything else good that we have to give. Let us give as unto the Lord, not to men. We should remember that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. And let us not give, in a prideful way to brag on ourselves and to make others feel bad. But let us give generously because we are children of God, not looking for the praises of other people.

When it comes to living right, we only think of cleaning up our outward behavior. We sometimes think in terms of staying away from the "big" sins. While it is important to present a great outward character, the real problem is what we say and what our hearts are like. Most of us speak defeat in our lives, which comes from our hearts. "If it ain't one thing, it's another." "I'm just getting by." Those are examples of defeated talk that comes from our hearts. The way we talk to ourselves and to others needs to be fixed. The darkness of our hearts needs to be exposed to the light of God's Word and love So, let us also make sure that what we say and what is on the inside of us is acceptable to God too, not just "squeaky clean" outward behavior.

We have to choose between pleasing people or pleasing God. We should never water down or compromise The Faith in order to please people. Anyone of us that seeks to please people first cannot please God. Are the rewards of praise, admiration, and pats on the back from people more important than standing on God's Word and principles? That is a question we have to ask ourselves sincerely. When we are willing to compromise The Faith to be included or to "not rock the boat," we are not going to be effective as children of God. So, let us examine ourselves, in every area, to see where we are compromising to please people or ourselves instead of being faithful to God.
