My first restoration🙌
I used the Cerakote Ceramic kit from Walmart as an intro to headlight restoration and got this awesome result! A neighbor asked for his to be restored as I was finishing this one, I’ll post his next!

I second Mike. Great results tho. Let the graft begin👌🏼
Worst I've ever done
So this one I did only as a challenge to me. I wanted to see how bad, " bad" really is. I think he used a 1k or 2k spray . The coating was so thick. He then tried to sand down the driver side giving up on that. Basically he felt it was unrepairable. I wanted to see what I can do. Took me three hours. Driver side I had to start with 180. Passenger side started with a 120. Using the headlight magic UV clear , I got these results

Orange peel on Headlights (🚩🚩🚩when looking to Quote a job)
@John Shipps here are two pictures of orange peel example. The first one is the texture to look out for. The second one is what happens when people try to spray clearcoat and they did not prep it correctly and you run into peeling Both of these are harder to remove If you’re starting out, you can have two mindsets regarding this and there’s nothing wrong with either one 1. Jump in and figure it out. Just do whatever you need to make it happen. 2. but the client know that that’s not when you feel comfortable doing

@Rickey Stigall a hell of a lot more work. Starting way way down in the grits to remove all clear and then obviously more steps going up. This job will take 3-4x longer than normal
What’s the worst that can happen.
guys don’t be scared of lower grits. 98% of everything we do is reversible! the reality is the worst that’s going to happen is you’ve got to spend more time and whatever ways it’s going to look better than when you started. This is started from 400grit all the way up to 3000 all hand sanded with a lot of elbow grease. Don’t be scared! give your customers what they want which makes them a walking advertisement for your business

i use the stay clear system atm only for the reason I bought the pro kit for 100 cars just before the ceramic system come out. Will make the transition the sec I’m down to 20 cars ish left. The ceramic makes more sense for me in the uk as weather gets unpredictable

@John Shipps if you look on the before pic you can see clearly right in line of where the bulb is where the clear coat was still intact. And in the after “you have to really zoom in” but it looks like a hair line exactly where the clear coat was in the before picture. So the indicator when you go to the job is to work out where the clear is still intact and I use abit more aggressive grit on that part only until removed then go through the grits. If it’s not apparent I would start with 1000 and it will highlight its instantly then do the same process as the first. If clients just want to have better visibility this is absolutely fine but would be a cheaper job. Some clients want the best they possibly can be and that’s where the extra steps come in i.e more moneys for us. Let me know if you can see from the pics and if you don’t understand what I’m talking about just ask mate. Here to help everyone 👌🏼

@Joseph Ricci mate you done well! It might just be a reflection that I’m seeing or something. This is what I saw. If it is the clear coat just needed a little bit more on this area if it’s a reflection you’ve done it spot on👍🏼
