Music and painting.
Great fun admiring all the paintings again, and seeing if Kristov had added more. I think part of it is personally knowing the artist, and seeing his new ideas. Although I enjoyed painting in that style, and proving to myself I could do it. I probably will not do more, as I'm strictly creating and painting for my self not commercially. So the painting has to really mean something to me, or as a memory of what i was doing at the time. 🤔 On another note 📝 the Electro Swing evening went well. So much so, everyone has requested another one. So I have been roped into helping organise another one the end of the week. They are going all out this time. More music, dance club decorated, and a local group have said they can also play this style of music. So we have roped them in too. The bar staff are coming up with some buttered rum cocktails 🍸 especially for the evening. Many of the guys have gone out to buy some trilby hats and some of the woman have already organised to wear sparkly dresses, and head bands with an osteridge feather 🪶 in them. They are advertising it as Johns Electro Swing Party. What have I started. What I'm hoping to do is take some photos of the evening, which I can draw some sketches from. Possibly turn them into silluettes, and compose some paintings from 🖼 of the evening.

@Caroline Turner here's a quick one. Needs more work though.

I'm back in Tunisia. Doing lots if sketching of ideas, which I may turn into paintings when I get back. All in between helping to organise an Electro swing evening. I was chating to the entertainment manager at the hotel club bar, and he asked me what music I like. I like a very wide range of music including progressive house, dance club music. But another favourite genre I like is Electro Swing. If you havnt heard of it before, imagine 1920s swing vocals, saxophone, and double base. Then bring it up to date with modern electronic heavy base, drums, and synthesiser keyboards. As its now the 2020s there's a big revival going on. Its very popular in France 🇫🇷 especially Paris along with the London clubs. There is a large group of French staying here at the moment. And they were talking about it. Jermyl the entertainment manager found out I knew a lot about it. So he asked me to help him organise an Elctro Swing evening. So we have been busy downloading and compiling music and track lists. All while doing some quick sketches, which the music has been inspiring me to do. I seem to have been given a new name by many of the staff here, who I get on well with. Because I hate the strong sum glare I have been wearing ski sunglasses. Very James bond like, so they have been calling me comander shades 😎. I have almost filled a sketchbook with doodles and painting ideas 💡 so hopefully they will make for some interesting if not amusing paintings.
Sketches have led to other things.
While here at the pool side coffee bar, I got chating to a guy who saw me sketching palm trees earlier, and asked if he could see them. It turns out he is a local artist, and was commitioned to produce all the many paintings in the hotel. He paints what he describes as contemporary modern abstract. His paintings contain small clues, which he leaves people to interpret themselves. I was chating to him for ages, and he offered to give me a guided tour of his work, hanging in the hotel. Five floors! 2 1/2 hours later he showed me his temporary art studio, which the hotel has provided him with, as they are gradually refurbishing parts of the hotel, and have commissioned him to do some more paintings to display He gave me a quick demonstration of how he does them. Once he has an idea he produces a painting really quickly, or allows it to develop. Some of which he signs across them vertically, or horizontally. His signature becoming part of the painting. A really interesting guy. As Julies spending some time with her friends at the Spa tomorow, He's invited me to join him in his studio tomorrow. And offered to show me and give me some hints on different techniques. I may even have a go myself.

working on lots of ideas. I have decided abstract painting, while intertesting, is not my inspirational style. the two paintings I worked on in Tunisia, are on display in the hotel. while fun to do, I probably wont repeat them, or continue in that style. but it was good for experience.

Back in the hotel in Tunisia for more adventures. My paintings are still displayed on the walls. 🙂
🍁 Drawing from nature…..literally!!! 🍁
I love 💕 this little creative trick: hold a branch or plant over paper and drawing around the shadow it casts. I love this so much because the shapes feel so alive and organic, full of movement, softness, and surprise. It’s such a lovely way to let nature help make the marks. 🍃 You can mix it up by using different mark making tools together…….. Try pen; charcoal; paint; markers; watercolour pencils; whatever you’ve got!!! Use them in conjunction! You could add some collage pieces too if you like. This technique is a wonderful starting point to kickstart your project and kickstart your creativity. Have you ever tried drawing from shadows before? Have fun!!!! 🌈🫟🎨🧑‍🎨

I tried this as well. Great effects as I love painting with silluettes. I love what you did here.
WHOS THAT MAN
Just having a bit of fun painting. originaly I painted the suit green, but wasnt sure of the colour, so did it again in dark grey. I found this quite amusing, but its probably just me. Im presently thinking about one or two paintings with yellow welly boots and umbrellas. why? simply because I dont usually like yellow, so why not paintg an amusing painting in yellow. I know. Ihave an odd sense of humour.
