My current working view 😎
Here we are enjoying the sunshine at our villa. It’s a steady 30 degC, with a nice cooling breeze, and set for 38 next week, but we’ll have moved back to Alicante by then. What is your current view?

New High set for June in the UK
Charlwood in Surrey has just registered a new high for June. The thermometer has hit 35.7 degC, beating the old record (35.6) which was set in 1976.

I read in the paper it was broken four times. Hot in Durham but not too oppressive. London and the South East can have their high thirties temperatures but 25 c in Durham at midday yesterday was nice for me.

Almost totally cloud-free in the UK today
Here’s a pic we haven’t seen for a while. Glorious sunshine for nearly the whole country. It’s a bit nippy on the East coast though, with a fresh wind. 23rd April 2026

Up at Broom House farm for breakfast this morning and the view was spectacular as there were no clouds whatsoever. Bit high up mind, the daffodils are just flowering up there.
Storm Dave (Rodney) was a little lively
Wow, that was wild! Storm Dave crossed as promised overnight, and what a wild night it was. We are currently pet-sitting near Masham in North Yorkshire, and the whole thing was deafening. Being out in the country means that all you can hear is the wind screaming through the trees. The sash-windows were rattling and the recycling boxes had blown 50 feet away across the lawn. This morning there was patio furniture scattered eveywhere, smashed plantpots and lots of small branches laid around. It looked like a tornado had been through. Any of you lot see any damage?

Indeed it was. Son has gone to Scotland for a week so we were dog sitting here in Durham. I was laughing saying he was in the thick of it but it turns out we were. Amusing watching the BBC correspondent on the sea front at Redcar last night. No cricket at Chester ale Street today as the ground was damaged but we survived. Two spooked dogs mind.
