Farva got a little pissed when I tried to skip patching...
When/how to refactor parts of the codebase?
Hi all, this has been on my mind lately. Right now I'm just building using some spec driven development guidelines (just using codex vscode extension right now so no built in Plan mode) and I have prompts in there to ask the agent to build modular, elegant code. I think I'll have to refactor at some point, but only because I know it's best practice in concept. I don't know when to to do it or what parts of the codebase to refactor. I saw in one non-corbin video that the number of lines and depth of nesting can be a tell about when to refactor a file. Any tips? Possible video to come @Corbin Brown ?

I'm on the same level as you but I think I've heard it's typical to run a refractor Thursday? Basically crank at it for a week, run it and check for bugs Thurs/Fri then start over

@Adrian Lu I have some interesting thoughts about setting up some looping agents to automate things but I don't know if it's smart or if I'm chasing the white rabbit
My first app...
So I v-coded this in ChatGPT and AbacusAI/DeepAgent before I saw the light with Corbin's videos. Though I've worked in tech for years, I have zero dev skills. This is an an app I put where the user uploads or drags in an image, makes a few design settings and then creates a CNC cut file that the customer uses for various crafts. There is a Stripe paywall which when finished pushes a ZIP bundle of cut files and user guides to the customer. Sales are around 100 jobs per week but some folks have figured out how to bypass the paywall so I've taken it offline to troubleshoot. I'm hoping a run through Cursor and Code Rabbit tomorrow will figure it out. as I'm now ready to add more features and get v1.1 out the door. To quote a famous guy, "Build build build".

Oh that's neat. Good luck!
Cursor Pro Usage, Agent VS Tab
Hi @Corbin Brown and Cursor users! I’m considering upgrading to Cursor Pro soon. I expect to spend roughly 2 hours per day vibe coding in the coming weeks and I’m curious about how quickly I might reach the usage limits. In your experience, how often do you use Cursor Agent prompts (Done-for-you, credit-consuming) vs Cursor Tab (inline coding assistance, no credit cost)? Also, which plan are you using between Pro, Pro Plus, or Ultra for your extensive usage? Thanks a lot!

@Geoff Lacorte something else to consider is that when you jump to an outside model for suggestions your losing the knowledgebase that it's gathered up. If you can integrate the model into Cursor so you retain everything you'll have a better experience
Tell it what it even is... EG. AI - " YOU ARE SMART "
I been trying to get a box to close for the last day. Hopping between the claude platform, cursor, windsurf - back to claude, back to windsurf. I finally told it - how the AI should act.... and then it finally worked. Something as simple as creating a 'window close' feature - for a feature that it previously built itself. Unreal. Anyways, Onward. 🌀

I don't always do it because sometimes it doesn't make sense but Corbin once said "tell it to keep going until it fixes the problem". Basically what you just discovered lol
