Big milestone today... The developer job has officially been posted! 🎉 Now, before anyone gets too excited, posting the job does NOT mean we're hiring someone tomorrow. 😆 It simply means we're starting conversations with developers, gathering estimates, getting feedback, and learning what it will take to bring Phase 1 of 6DegreesApp to life. This is a huge step because we're no longer saying, "We have an idea." We now have: ✅ A prototype ✅ A user journey ✅ A data model ✅ A developer package ✅ A defined Phase 1 MVP And now we're putting it in front of real developers. One of my mom’s favorite sayings was: “No man is an island.” The older I get, the more I realize how true that is. Most startups are built behind closed doors. A founder has an idea, builds it, launches it, and hopes people want it. But that’s not how we’re building 6DegreesApp. We’re building it with people, not for people. That’s why we have Founding Members—not just to support development, but to help shape it through ideas, feedback, testing, connections, and support. I want our Founding Members to one day say: “I was there when this was just an idea.” Too many startups fail because they build something nobody wants. We’re doing the opposite: building community, relationships, and trust first. Because the people we need are closer than we think. One of the biggest lessons I've learned this week is that building an app isn't about adding more features... it's about figuring out what to leave out. As we've worked through the 6DegreesApp blueprint, we've intentionally removed a LOT from Phase 1. Not because those ideas aren't exciting, but because we want to prove the core concept first. For now, we're setting aside things like: ❌ Flight deals ❌ Booking systems ❌ Business marketplaces ❌ Earnings dashboards ❌ Affiliate commissions ❌ Paid subscriptions ❌ Complex maps ❌ Social media integrations Instead, we're focusing on one simple question: "Who do I know here?" Phase 1 of 6DegreesApp will focus on: ✅ People Nearby ✅ Recommendations Nearby ✅ Trusted Connections ✅ Trust Paths (Ashley → @Ruth Alvarez ---> @Debbie Gurr ) ✅ Invitations ✅ Intro Requests / Messaging ✅ Privacy & Hideaway Mode The goal is simple: Can we help someone discover a trusted person or trusted recommendation through a mutual connection? If we can prove that everything else can be built on top of it later. Tomorrow I'll be uploading the updated prototype and developer package to begin getting development estimates.
