Questions/Discussions on Comics Book Operations
So, I have finished my first comic book script and was curious about next steps. Starting a comic company and writing comics is all still new to me, so any guidance & leadership is welcomed. Currently, I am working on a new comic hero named Bishop. The series may be a 5-part (depending on how the writing goes. It's all a work in progress, so I'm taking my time with the steps to get the comic to print. But, I'm totally stoked about it! Thanks in advance and welcome...to the Wonaverse!

I would actually recommend 2 paths forward. You can opt to do either of them, or both! First - Start small. It sounds like you're building something big, which is ambitious and definitely possible! However, it takes time and practice to hone your craft. As good as your story is now, imagine how much better it will be when you approach it from a perspective of experienced writer versus newbie. My recommendation for all new creators (all of which have ambitious stories they want to tell), is to start with short stories. 4-5 page submissions to anthologies are a great way to start. It's a low pressure way to practice how to format scripts, find talent, manage projects, etc. Second - hire an experienced editor to help you develop your current story. In comics, an editor does much more than proofread for commas. They provide story developmental feedback and an alternate perspective from the eyes of a 3rd party. Budget provided, you could work on both things simultaneously. Hone your craft by practicing on short anthology pieces, while developing your story further with an editor!

@Steven Glover there is a group called "The Comic Book Editor's Alliance" on Facebook that is a fantastic resource for finding editors. The head of the group, Steve Colle, is actually going to be our guest on the January 8th Capital of Comics Masterclass. So I recommend checking that out so you can ask questions! My team at Metal Ninja Studios also has in-house editors if you dont want to have to deal with finding and vetting quality talent.
What is your dream?
Hey everyone, quick update for today. One of the biggest advantages we have as creators is the ability to see something before it exists. Vision is what separates people who create out of impulse from people who build with intention. It’s the difference between hoping a project works and designing a path that gives it the best chance to succeed. Tonight’s Premium Capital of Comics Masterclass recording goes deep into that idea. I’ll be sitting down with Dan Hills, CEO of Comix Wellspring, to talk about The Power of Vision in building both creative work and a thriving business. Dan and I think very similarly about growth, direction, and the long game, so this session is going to be incredibly useful for anyone who wants to build a sustainable creative career instead of just checking boxes. We’re going to dig into things like: - How a clear vision prevents avoidable mistakes during production - Why creators burn out when they build “in the dark” - How to set your project up so every decision moves you toward the future you want - The mindset shifts Dan has seen in the most successful creators he works with Standard members, you’ll still get access to the edited conversational portion of the episode when it’s released, so you’re covered. But if you want to be part of the full 2 hour live Masterclass, join the Q&A, and get access to every upcoming session, be sure to upgrade to premium before we go live in a couple of hours. If stepping into the room tonight aligns with the future you’re building, you can upgrade here: https://www.skool.com/metalninjastudios/plans Either way, keep pushing forward. Your vision matters, and the more clarity you bring to it, the more powerful your work becomes. See you soon! Joel

@Steven Glover That's an awesome vision Steven! What steps are you taking to make it a reality?
Introduce Yourself (All Intros Here!)
Welcome to the Concept to Comic™ Academy! This is where we’re building a community of creators who want to level up their stories, sharpen their skills, and take real steps toward building long-term success using our favorite medium - Comics! Let’s kick things off the right way. Drop your introduction in the comments below. Tell us who you are, what you’re working on, and what brought you here. Doesn’t need to be formal. Just be real. A few prompts if you want them: - Where are you from? - What kind of stories do you love creating? - What are you working on right now (or hoping to start)? - What’s the big dream behind your project? - And if you want, share something outside of comics. Fitness goals, hobbies, anything that makes you… you. This group is here to help you learn new skills, stay consistent, and connect with other creators who are taking their work seriously. The more you put into this community, the more you’ll get out of it. I’m glad you’re here. Now, jump in and introduce yourself!

@Steven Glover That's a great question Steven! If you look at the top of your homepage, you should see a bar that says "Write Something" A pop up will appear when you click on that, which will allow you to create your thread. You can enter a title, create the body of text (the main point), upload images, etc., and select a category. I've attached a screenshot showing examples, but feel free to let me know if you need any more help!
What projects are you working on?
Hey All! We're all creators here. Whether aspiring or experienced, we all have projects that we are working on in some form. Let's talk about them! What are you working on?

Most of my work is on the business side of things right now, but I get to stretch my creative muscles with the upcoming releases of Capital of Comics. Working on marketing graphics, audio recording and editing, and putting pieces together for the video team. The Metal Ninja Studios team has a bunch of comics being produced currently, but I'll let them talk about that! 🤣
