For the Month of January, we will be donating to "Second Chance Flight" a non-profit started by Madison Grimm. She is the second person to receive a federal waterfowl egg salvage permit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service at just 19 years old. "Second Chance Flight" is based in the Prairie Pothole Region of South Dakota, where 50-80% of all waterfowl in the United States are produced. After starting her aviary, she started getting calls from farmers. Their hopes were that she could take in ducklings or eggs from nests they flush female waterfowl from while working their fields. However, due to laws and regulations, she couldn't mix her aviary waterfowl with wild ducklings. This gave her the idea to start "Second Chance Flight" where she gets calls from farmers when they flush waterfowl mothers from the nests, picks them up, incubates, hatches, raises, and rereleases them into the wild. As of now she has rehabilitated almost 200 ducklings that otherwise wouldn't have survived. With additional funds she can eventually expand her operation to make an even bigger difference than she already has her first year.
