š²āļø Wood Slice Snowmen ā Learning Through Creativity Last week our children became true makers! They carefully used a saw to slice their wood pieces, drilled two holes, and threaded them together with a pipe cleaner that doubled as a scarf. With great patience, they painted their snowmen white, waited for them to dry, and then added all the finishing details. The results were magicalābut the learning was even richer: š Learning Outcomes: š± Communication & Language: Talking through steps, naming tools, and describing their snowmen. š± Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Patience, turn-taking, pride in achievement, and celebrating each otherās creations. š± Physical Development: Fine motor skills through sawing, drilling, threading, and painting. š± Understanding the World: Exploring tools, materials, and the process of transformation. š± Expressive Arts & Design: Creativity, design thinking, and imaginative representation. š Schemas at Play: š± Connecting ā joining slices with pipe cleaners. š± Enclosure ā framing the snowmanās body with circles. š± Trajectory ā brush strokes and drilling movements. š± Rotation ā turning slices to paint and align holes. š± Positioning ā arranging features like eyes, nose, and scarf. ⨠The children showed resilience, patience, and joy in creating something from start to finish.
