This time of year changes the kind of spaces we need…
I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of spaces we end up craving at this time of year. Not because it’s Solstice or Yule or winter in a pretty, Pinterest way. But because often things naturally slow down, whether we like it or not, and the noise drops just enough for us to actually feel what’s been sitting underneath. What I notice, again and again, is that people aren’t looking for more content or more answers right now. They’re looking for places that feel steady. Places where they don’t have to perform wellness, or growth, or “being okay”. Spaces where you can show up thoughtful, tired, reflective, a bit unsure, and not have that turned into something that needs fixing. That’s the essence of Empowered Spirit Tribe. It’s not a high-energy space. It’s not about pushing forward or reinventing yourself. It’s a free community for people who like depth, honesty, spirituality that’s grounded, and conversations that actually mean something. The kind of people who arrive tend to be intuitive, thoughtful, quietly powerful. People who feel a lot, think a lot, and don’t always fit neatly into louder spaces. People who value ritual, reflection, and taking things at the pace their nervous system can handle. If you’re in a season where you’re noticing yourself wanting softer conversations, slower rhythms, and a space that doesn’t ask anything of you other than to be present, you’d probably feel at home. An invitation, if you’re feeling any of this, to come and sit with us for a while.

Year end reflection
What’s one part of running your business that feels easier now than it did a year ago?

Direction, without a doubt. A year ago I was second-guessing myself a lot more and trying to follow too many paths at once. Now things feel clearer — not perfect, but more grounded. I trust my intuition more, I know what actually matters, and it’s easier to say no to what doesn’t fit. That alone has made everything feel lighter. 🌿

@Mercedes Aspland Thank you 🤍 That means a lot to hear. You’re so right, it’s much more about steadiness than certainty. I’ve stopped waiting to feel “fully sure” and started trusting that quiet inner yes, even when the path is still unfolding. Letting go of what doesn’t fit has definitely created more space to breathe. 🌿
How the Nervous System Breaks Your Habits
If you’ve ever tried to build a habit and thought, “Why can’t I just stick to this?” this might help. For a long time, I thought my problem was willpower. Or motivation. Or discipline. But what I’ve learned is that a lot of “failed habits” aren’t about mindset at all. They’re about the nervous system. When your nervous system feels under pressure, unsafe, overwhelmed, or stretched too thin, it doesn’t care about your good intentions. It cares about survival. So even if you want to eat well, move your body, rest more, show up consistently… your system might be quietly pulling you back to what feels familiar and safe. Not because it’s best for you. But because it’s known. That’s why habits often fall apart when: - you’re stressed - you’re tired - you’re emotionally overloaded - you’re trying to do too much at once Your body goes into protection mode. And protection always beats plans. I see this in myself all the time. When I’m regulated and steady, habits feel simple. When I’m dysregulated, everything feels harder and I start asking myself what’s wrong with me. Nothing is wrong. My system just needs support before it can change. This is why pushing harder usually backfires. And why being kind to yourself actually helps habits stick. Small changes. Low pressure. Safety first. Not forcing. Not shaming. Not trying to overhaul your life when your system is already stretched. If you’ve been stuck in the stop–start cycle, it doesn’t mean you lack commitment. It usually means your nervous system hasn’t felt safe enough to stay consistent. And that’s something you can work with, gently. What habit keeps falling apart when you’re stressed? I share a lot of this kind of nervous-system-aware support inside The Sacred Pause. (I have just launched a course in there that will help with this). If this spoke to you, you’re very welcome to join us.

This makes so much sense. I spent years thinking I just needed to “try harder,” when really my nervous system was already running on fumes. When I’m regulated, things flow… when I’m not, even the simplest habits feel impossible. Seeing it through this lens has brought so much more compassion instead of self-criticism. Safety really does come before consistency.

@Mercedes Aspland Thank you 🤍 That’s exactly it, when the nervous system is depleted, no amount of willpower can override that. Seeing it through this lens really does soften so much of the self-blame. And yes… safety has to come before consistency. When the body feels safe, consistency tends to follow naturally. I’m really glad this brought a bit of relief. 💛
Winter Solstice Women’s Circle
We’re approaching the Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year. This is an incredibly busy time in society, and yet nature would have us pause. Have you taken a moment to pause recently to listen within to just be? We live in a busy, doing, acheiving, fixing, pushing, planning world. On this solstice, I invite you to pause with me. Without trying to fix Without trying to plan Be willing to sit with what is, and notice what’s forming beneath the surface. Inside Living the Game of Life, we’ll be gathering for a Winter Solstice Women’s Circle—not to perform, achieve, or reinvent ourselves, but to rest in the stillness together. To gently release what no longer needs to be carried, and to reconnect with the small, steady spark of light that remains even in the dark. If you’ve been craving space to reflect, breathe, and feel supported without having to explain yourself… this is for you. Sometimes the most powerful shifts don’t come from doing more—but from allowing yourself to be present for what’s already unfolding. December 21st at 1pm Central

This feels like such a needed invitation 🤍 The contrast between how the world pushes us to keep doing and how nature asks us to soften and pause is especially loud right now. I love the reminder that we don’t need to fix or reinvent anything — just to be present and listen to what’s quietly forming underneath it all. Resting together in that stillness, especially at the Solstice, feels deeply nourishing. Sometimes honoring the dark and the pause is the work. 🌙✨
Hello
I’m deeply drawn to quiet, scripture-anchored reflection as a spiritual practice—creating space to sit with God honestly, without rushing to fix or perform. One of the tools I love most is guided written reflection, using journaling and gentle scripture prompts to help people slow down, name what they’ve been carrying, and reconnect with truth in a safe, grounded way. This month, I’m focusing on teaching how I’ve learned to remain soft, quiet, and vulnerable without feeling the need to match the energy of the season, and on finding peace within that space—even in the midst of Christmas.
