March 2024 Google Core Update – the Secret to the Google Core Update and Every Google Algorithm Update
Hey folks, probably have seen rumblings of how wild the March Core Update has been already - lot of people complaining about AI sites/content getting hit, even de-indexed (which is why I never copy and paste from ChatGPT - too large of a footprint, everyone is doing that) so Google is seriously on the warpath early on. Don't panic if you get clipped on some keywords. Take this with a grain of salt, but I've cross referenced early data across clients, test sites and big power sites like the Naplab site I referenced a few months back and here's what I'm seeing so far: - Power page process is going strong - (see Power Page post) - Seeing the same thing on test sites power page, other clients and sites like Naplab using deep SEO optimization - not getting slapped down, even growing in the face of this update - More sophisticated the SEO at the page level, harder for Google to see patterns (i.e. safety in complexity, danger in mass footprint tactics - big data is easier to parse for a giant like the Big G which is both a strength and a weakness for them) - Entity SEO has been super helpful because of how deep it goes e.g. of one piece: YT video embed (optimized of course and linking to same page it's embedded on) --> video schema --> Knowledge Graph ID for main KWs in the sameas = just one piece of power page (nobody is doing this so flares go up and Google's heat seeking missiles go after what everyone does - be careful when reading advice online) - Custom images are big now, lots of opportunities here - Google loves multimodal - Big names in SEO who are sharing their huge mass produced sites in case studies through AI or programmatic SEO are getting slapped hard - not smart to begin with, shouldn't be sharing that stuff with Google scanning everything - AI still helpful but best when combined with human editing, deeper SEO to flesh thigs out several levels and 'sculpt the AI' - Give any clients a heads up that we are in the middle of this storm but not to panic as we have tools and protocols at our disposal for things like this. Keep things steady and focused on the future with examples like these which are surviving the update
