Major Ah-Hap Moment —Seeing Diatonic Scale in ONE Position
i had a major breakthrough last night & today so wanted to share in case anyone else is working on something along these lines. I”ve been stuck on this for quite a while so this is huge for me. So long as I digest it throughly before I eat again 😎. Playing all 7 chords in the same position I think what really helped understand triads and the fretboard more is the note/scale/chord relationship! I drew it out on paper one chord at a time but stating within 0-5 pentatonic boundary. Sorry if it’s super confusing but the point is in there. John let me know…..

I know how it feels, Michael. Congrats. Now, it will just get more confusing! To a point. I do NOT know the secret to unlocking those things, but i know if yo keep looking, you WILL fing them. When you do, it's a major leap....but...you have to keep the technique work up to use them. You're well on the way.

You bet, Michael. Good to chat with you again.
Relationships - Making more everyday
I’m slowly realizing how “much “ is relational in music. Wow! I’m so glad I stayed with it and didn’t become a statistic rather a musician🤘 I think technique is a big factor (do you make it look effortless) but, mindset is really everything.. Lou Holtz quote.. I find my playing improves more than strictly exercises. Obtained clarity - I would have said total clarity, however, I don’t think that exists for overachievers 😬. I guess my learning type is aural and visual bc writing things out helps my brain connect the dots. Aurally I am start to hear the weight of the dissonances or distance. And of course memorizing patterns, lyrics, verses, choruses, etc for structure. Just wanted to share for those out there that might relate 🤷‍♂️. Relationships:

What Does Progress Look Like - To You
As I was going through posts and just checking in when I thought what does progress look like for others? I’m learning about myself and how progress pops up when you’re not looking! I’m just keeping my perspective and feeding passion. The other day I was able to see a new layer on the fretboard. Cmaj all over the fretboard including chords, triads, 7th chords, Dom7th, and which pentatonic box is above and below me. After the first two years I learned how much there is to learn or how much I don’t know 🤯 Redirect - wow I’ll always be able to pickup my guitar and never run out of things to do. Progress as Steve always says happens in small increments but compound over time. So yes looking at one month vs one year is a huge difference. That gives me the motivation to keep on truckin. I heard someone say that most are not capable of understanding a billon vs a million so it made me think of the developing musician. We don’t know how vast music really is so I thought this was neat. There are approx 11 days is 1 million seconds but 31.7 years in 1 billion. The paradox here for me is mindset and grace. No matter how hard you work things take time. Why does it matter when or how you get it as long as you get it, right?

I've discovered the hard way that things can happen that DO take away some abilities. I've also discovered that's no excuse to deprive yourself of the joy of music. You can always pass things on and THAT is a gift in itself.
🤯 This will change the way you think about scales and modes FOREVER!
Hey everyone 👋 Quick question… Have modes ever felt confusing to you? You’re not alone—that’s one of the most misunderstood topics in guitar. This video explains them in a much simpler way: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r92SPOC7O_k Big takeaway: it’s not about new scales… it’s about how you hear and use them. If you watch it, I’d love to hear what clicks for you 👍 And if you want help really understanding this stuff: 👉 https://link.guitarzoom.com/gza

IMO, Other than you'll see how legato playing gets easier, once you learn TNPS, you will (hopefully) see that each 'position' is just one of the modes of scale. 'It's all connected.' Just different ways to eat the same elephant!
Very Interesting - Mathematics and Fretboard

Yeah, Michael. The more you know, the more you realize what you don't know. That's one of the things I love about music (other than the way it connects with my emotions.) One day, you realize what I've been saying for a long time. No matter what you learn about it the more you realize how it's all connected
