20 contributions to Start a Business with No Money
Do you know your value PER MINUTE? You should do!
Last night, I was a guest speaker on @Jill Hart's "Monetise your mission" mastermind inside her Client Acquisition for Coaches Community, and that is where I met the absolutely fabulous @Soph Newman. (I had my daugters school sports day and so I was a bit rushed and I forgot to post about the live, but I'll pop a replay up for you all soon.) We got into a great discussion about exactly this. How crucial it is to understand what every single minute of your time is actually worth. Sophie form the Good Girls Guide to Money has written a brilliant piece called Undercharging Isn't Generosity (It's Protection). If you have ever stared at a draft invoice, felt your chest tighten, and knocked ยฃ50 off the price before hitting send, you need to read her work. She hits on a massive truth that every entrepreneur needs to hear: what we love to call "generosity" is often just our anxiety buying insurance. We undercharge so nobody can accuse us of being greedy, and we disguise our people-pleasing as kindness. Sophie breaks this down into three specific traps that are quietly costing your business: - ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ข๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ-๐——๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ - You get paid for a one-hour session but give them two hours, a follow-up, and extra resources you stayed up until midnight creating, just to ensure they can't possibly be disappointed. - ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ - You flinch and drop your own price before the client even has a split second to reply. Most of the time, they weren't even going to flinchโ€”you discounted the price just to avoid your own uncomfortable feelings. - ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐˜… - The old, broken script that making good money and doing meaningful, helpful work cannot exist in the same room. As Sophie points out, there is absolutely nothing pure or helpful about being broke. Before you drop a price or throw in an extra freebie again, Sophie recommends asking yourself a simple gut-check: "Is this generosity coming from my Soul, or from my Role?". True generosity leaves you feeling steady and gives from an overflow; "role" generosity completely empties you out just to keep you feeling safe.

@Soph Newman this was such a powerful contribution to the mastermind!! I love how these masterminds are like stone soup - where everyone brings something to the community to share!

@Adam McCollough It's an old folklore story about a traveler who goes from town to town. He has a magic stone that can feed the whole village. Everyone contributes to the pot and it's a wonder soup that feeds everyone. It's about being better together than apart. The central lesson of Stone Soup is the value of cooperation, sharing, and community spirit. It demonstrates how individuals, when motivated and inspired, can contribute small amounts to create something greater than the sum of its parts. The story emphasizes that generosity and collaboration can overcome scarcity and bring people together I do love me a good leek and potato soup also - I really like potatoes

@Elizabeth Bautista eventually some community archive - but that's okay. I like to just move the ones I'm less active in to the bottom of my community list
Who's here to stay broke?
๐Ÿ”ฅ 52% of this community is sitting at Level 1. And the funny thing is... nobody joined ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—ฎ ๐—•๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ก๐—ผ ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† because they don't want to make money. Every person here joined because they're looking for growth, opportunities, connections, clients, customers, ideas, momentum... something that moves the needle. But none of that happens when you're hiding at Level 1. ๐Ÿ‘€ The fastest way to get noticed in a community isn't lurking. It's showing up, it's commenting, and joining conversations. It's becoming a familiar face. Right now, 52% of members are hanging out at Level 1. Let's see if we can shrink that number and level some people up this week. ๐Ÿš€ It's ridiculously easy too... 1. Pick a friend in the comments. 2. Tag them. 3. Go back and forth dropping: ๐Ÿ’ฐ Your favorite money GIF ๐ŸŽ‰ Your favorite "LET'S GOOOO!" celebration GIF ๐Ÿš€ Or anything that screams momentum and success Every comment helps increase engagement, gets more eyes on your profile, and helps you climb those levels. Let's wake this leaderboard up and start moving people out of Level 1. ๐Ÿ‘‡ Drop your GIF and tag your first leveling-up buddy below! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ”ฅ

One big reason this space is different!
There are so many communities that I had visited and people would say " drop an introduction about yourself"... and so I would.tell people about where I started from, how we've grown our businesses, and things I'm doing now like the business coaching, but so many of my posts got removed, or I'd get a message saying you're not allowed to tell people about your businesses or what you do... You're just here to support me! Well call me old-fashioned but what kind of community doesn't allow people to speak about themselves? So here's where we're different. We want to learn about what you're doing, we genuinely want to get to know you, What's your passions are and what you are hoping to achieve in life because without that information how can we possibly help you? So if you haven't already, please create a welcome post in the welcome lounge and tell us all about yourself. Don't be shy and feel free to include relevant links to your community if you have one So that your people can support you. BUT Be Respectful Just remember no-one wants to read a page of adverts, but we genuinely do want to get to know YOU.
