Did you know?
When emotions hit, we disconnect from our thinking brain, and actually lose 10-20 IQ points! And when we’re disconnected from our ability to think, we typically engage our habit brain. So when emotions hit hard, we fall back into whatever we’ve done consistently: Tone of voice Language Facial expressions Behaviors Etc Biblically, these habits are called “strongholds” and need to be broken (unless they are a stronghold of God). Processing emotions is not only important, but powerful to destroy those old ways of living. Have you ever seen this play out in your life and parenting?

When I think about my own strong emotions and the times I have tried to communicate or discipline when I’m feeling strong emotions, it’s like a train wreck. Once calm, it’s easy to think about several different things I could have done in those moments. And yet sometimes I still wreck that train. 😬 Thankfully, it happens much less frequently as I have spent a lot of time on inner healing.
Tell me your future!
You've probably already entered your current predominant emotion within your family (if not, go to Classroom, then START HERE), but now I'd like you to add what you'd like your family to feel like when you are more emotionally whole.

Great list, and all of them…but joyful would be the predominant emotion I would love my family to feel. So much overflow comes from joy.
Current emotional state
What would you say is your current predominant emotion within your family?

We have all of the emotions, but we have a lot of frustration. Communication is a struggle…hence the frustration.

Hello! I’m Jill from Jamestown, Indiana. My husband, Justin and I have 4 boys. Ethan and Evan (twins, age 20, my bonus boys), Elijah (12), and Elliott (10). We love being outside, fishing, the boys love hunting. Our oldest 2 are in college and working. Our youngest 2 are very involved in baseball. So glad to be here!
